Hit the range today with my new Sigma 9mm for the first time. Fifty two rounds of WWB with no malfunctions. Great gun, slightly heavy trigger, and shooting slightly high. Moved a twelve ounce water bottle all over at 20 yards. Surprised it shot so clean even with Winchester white box.

I've noticed while reloading mags that sometimes the 16th round is "tight/not-gonna-go" and a couple times I had to thump the mag on the heel of my hand which may or may not help.

Common problem, break-in issue, or revolver guy lameness ???

Welcome to the forum & to Sigmas!

I have had the 16th rd resistance. But I have not noticed any variance in the resistance.

I have noticed it to be easier if I hold the mag a certain way. Sometimes I get in a hurry at the range. But when it gets to the 16th rd I remember to "get a grip".:o

Hopefully it is just technique & with a few more practice sessions it will all be a thing of the past.

Best of luck!

Mike, congrats on your new sigma, and welcome to the sigma club!

What you described is quite normal with a new sigma. Just get mean with that 16th round. It does get easier as it beeaks in. I have found that everything, I mean everything about the gun gets easier and smoother over time. What "slightly heavy trigger"? (see what I mean?);)

Please post often; we're glad your here!

Wow!

Thanks for the link Joe; that's really cool! I've always done it the hard way.

I bought my sigma one month after the high cap mag. Ban was lifted. (what was that 8 years ago). The sigma I got was the first one in in my area that came with 2-16 round mags instead of 10 rounds. Those two mags to this day will not hold 16 rounds. The 2 I got from the rebate hold 16 rounds with no problems. Weird????

I have used the Maglula extensively, sometimes when I am bored I will unload my mags just to reload them with it! I never had the "16th round problem" but I religiously smack the magazine against the heel of my hand to seat the rounds to the rear, old M16 habit, but it seems to work. The only time I have ever had FTF problems was if the round worked it's way forward.

For those of you that have never used a mag loader, I would rate the utility of the device right up there with the electric toaster and bread slicer . . . Seriously, they are GREAT!

I wish you had not posted that; it really looks dumb when you put it in writing . . . now I have to admit I do that too-- but I think I'll try to stop . . . (I do it just to be sure everything is alright-- not out of boredom. :))

Eh, I'm retired now, Rick, and every so often just need a simple task to wake myself up, lol! I just think back to how many mags I loaded over the years and never even thought "I bet there is an easier way to do this." That thing works real well on my double stacks, and while a single stack 8 round 9mm mag sometimes slips around a bit, its still better than the old way, especially when the mag is new! That last one can still be a bear sometimes.

Actually, the biggest reason that I have never had that dreaded "16th round problem" would be that I have the 40VE...

Writerinmo did not say "how" he unloads his mag.:D
When Im bored I "unload" em at a safe target and reload with an HKS loader. It works okay. +1 just smack em when you load by hand.

Thanks for that link. Looking around now to buy one.

Best invention since sliced bread? I'll have to test it out first.

Thanks again!

Thanks for the link. Being a Bass Pro Shops manager, I thought I knew most of our items, especially in the gun section, but I missed this one. Just called the store and have one on hold for me. $34 minus my discount, can't wait to try it tomorrow nite.
