A pal gifted me a new Tikka T3 rifle...of course it includes no scope mounts(I dug thru the box too)!

Looking at the grooves milled into the receiver top...it appears the T3 might accept standard Weaver type rings. However the only chart I can find seems to indicate Sako and Tikka have propriatory type rings..not compatable with each other or anything else..

Are there any Tikka scope mount gurus present can advise me if I must order Tikka specialty mounts or if I could just get some Wal Mart Weaver style rings and spud a scope onto my new Tikka??

TIKKA

I had a Tikka turkey gun for many years. Pre computer days for me. It took a special (as in theirs) mount. Was hard to find, and the tab was $100.00 when I did. This was many a year ago and I would not want to hazard a guess as to the cost these days, if, and when one could be found. Good Luck! Oh yeah, mine was of course an O/U, and the thing would not always go off ( the .222), gun was new, so I just finally figured to tighten the screw on the trigger. :) After that, it went bang EVERY time. Don't be fooled by the red LOCKTITE on the screw. :) Did see one a couple weeks ago in PA., They are excellent guns. :)

I had a Sako Forester in 308 years ago, scope companies made adapter bases for their rings for them, prepare to pay big but you will love the rifle! Ivan

Yeh..I saw some Talley mounts at Midway that looked like a winner.

I may also get a Leupold 'Rifleman' 3-9x40 scope for the Tikka. I've been hearing about these budget Leupolds but really have not needed any new glass. Have a box full of serviceable scopes robbed off various projects and saved for future projects. However since I got zero dollars invested in the Tikka T3...probably get a good scope. Not for sure what mounts I'll get but the Talley one piece ring-mounts do look good.

Anybody have any experience with the Leupold Rifleman series scopes?? I've got a Leupold or two on some rifles Vari-X II series 2-7x33 I believe.
