During a 2010 interview, when asked why he did comedy, Tim Conway said:
"
I guess I was destined to do this. People have often said, you know, what else would you do if you weren't doing this? The answer is nothing because I'm not capable of doing anything else. This is pretty much it."
So up until he stopped performing, Tim Conway spent his life doing what he did best, and doing it
better than just about anyone else on today's comedy scene. He obviously didn't mind playing second banana to others...frankly, he was so good at it, viewers didn't really notice or care that he wasn't the real "star" of the show.
Face it...the man made untold millions of people around the world laugh until their sides hurt.
He's free at last from the dementia demons, which I believe is something to be thankful for. If you've ever dealt with dementia, you know it never gets any better. Some media published photos of him in his later years, haggard, unsmiling, looking like he was at death's door.
The photo below is how I'll remember him, smiling and vibrant, face unlined from pain and worry. I hope he will rest peacefully throughout eternity.
