First lets be civil about the discussion so the thread doesn’t get locked. Anyway here goes.

I see Tim McGraw is Performing at a Anti-Gun Fundraiser. His excuse is ““As a gun owner, I support gun ownership,” McGraw argued in his statement. “I also believe that with gun ownership comes the responsibility of education and safety — most certainly when it relates to what we value most, our children.”” Now there are lots of other way to spread the word he says he believes in besides supporting the anti’s. Heck he could do a concert to promote firearm safety. His own daughter has posted photos of herself posing with her firearms on facebook proudly. I wonder if it’s part of the it’s OK for me but you don’t need them attitude we see with politicians. Maybe he's trying to expand his cash inflow to the anti crowd.

Maybe McGraw feels deeply about the deaths of the children, and the anti-gun crowd is using him to further their agenda. Is he smart enough to realize he is being used? We all know the anti-gun people will lie to advance their agenda. Maybe McGraw truly believes the concert was to advance firearms education and safety.

none of the money is going to families.... its going to the anti-gun group Bloomberg set up... the same name as the concert...... Old Timmy just might want to talk to the Dixie Chicks on just how fast careers in the country music industry can dive when you hack off 98% of the folks who buy your DVDs & buy your concert tickets........it would be my guess is that he has just had turned the metal fastener skyward as far as gun owning country music fans are concerned.......

You guys think in todays day and age he didnt know what he was doing and what might happen? He has a team guys. Whatever the reason he is doing this concert, he is doing it knowing the repercussions.

And is someone who wants some laws enacted necessarily "anti gun"? We need to be less extreme or else well become extremists like the extreme left. There are middle grounds in life people.

We're well past the middle ground already, anyone who wants any more laws to control when, where or how a person can buy, possess or own a firearm is anti-gun. We have too many regulations on firearms ownership as it is, new laws are not only redundant but are only enacted to further erode our ownership rights. We as gun owners must not compromise any further, from now on it should be the anti's who are forced to compromise while we work to expand our firearm rights.

That's pretty much the logic used getting I594 passed in Washington state. A lot of gun owners bought the 'middle ground' bit, and now we have a mess that is likely to spread elsewhere. How's that 'middle ground' working out for Colorado? I suppose there are people in New York state that think they are in the 'middle ground' with the Safe Act. Who decides where the middle ground is?

This is a terrible, and hypocritical decision on his part. It's difficult to believe. But "Ya gotta believe" - as his charismatic dad used to say. And I am no country music fan - but he wife is painfully pretty.

How about rather than enacting new laws we try to vigorously and fully enforce the existing laws. No plea bargains. Prosecute the folks breaking the existing laws. Don't burden the law abiding with new laws.

Such as the character who shot and killed two in Milwaukee recently. A convicted bank robber. Tragic, fella accidentally hits a 2 year old who darts into traffic. Criminal with a gun comes out and shoots the driver. He also happens to accidentally shoot his 15 year old relative who was out there too trying to help the 2 year old.

"Extended supervision." Yea, that worked out just fine keeping a convicted felon from obtaining a firearm and using it. There is a law against that. Actually several. But then again, if he had been properly sentenced and incarcerated for his role in a bank robbery in 2011. 2 years!?! and then out.

Suspect in double homicide kills himself as police close in

I am not a McGraw fan so my feelings won't cost him but hopefully his fans will begin to ponder. And if you don't care about his politics pay the price of admission and buy his music. Bloomberg will appreciate it and so will those who are working hard to restrict or eliminate gun ownership for one and all.

The guys an entertainer (not a politician, not a leader, not a philosopher),he's hired to sing and gets paid big bucks for it.Who cares what his politics are.

If someone is working against my interests, then I care. Gun ownership is a civil right. There are people actively working to take that right away. They are patient and know their task is an incremental one. You bet I care what influential people are doing. Do big name entertainers carry a lot of influence? I'd say they do. You may not care what McGraw thinks, but there are a plenty of fans that do. If it was just him, then perhaps it wouldn't matter what he does or says. But he is not alone, plenty more of his ilk out there and they have the proverbial bully pulpit.

I care.... when he's able to use his name and reputation as a widely accepted country music entertainer to raise millions of dollars for the anti's wanting to take away my freedoms.

And that is a huge problem in this country. All the people that take an entertainers opinion seriously [emoji57]

It is NOT his opinion that matters. He is working to raise funds for the anti gun groups. And that goes beyond him having an opinion. But if you support his efforts it is your right. But for those who do not realize what they are supporting, they should be informed.

He's doing the concert because one of the musicians in his band is buddies with the group's director who lost a child in the Sandy Hook shooting.

Billy Currington, who's touring with McGraw, dropped out of the concert when things started heating up and said he will contribute to the shooting victims but not the group McGraw is playing for.

I think McGraw's politics are pretty well known.
