I have several 1911 uppers including a couple of Colt Aces, a 70 Series 38 Spcl. NM, and a Colt Series 70 Target 45. I have a pre-70 Colt lower with a 38 Super/38 Special/Ace ejector (looking for a pre 70 38 Super top for it??)

Looking for 1911 lower frames, nothing is really affordable that is available. I have looked at the Tisas 1911 pistols and reports sound good. I have looked at the Duty models and with a frame rail. I have seen a couple of complete lowers on GB, but apparently none are available by dealers. My call to the importer was told none at present.

Three questions:

1. Opinions on the quality etc. of Tisas 1911s?

2. Suggestions on 1911 lower sources?

3. Any other thoughts/suggestions?

I own several 1911's ranging from Tisas on the low end and Wilson Comabt on the upper. I bought the Tisas just to see if all the fantastic reviews were correct. They are.

To date I have over 1k thought a Tisas Duty 9mm. Three fail to extracts with my mouse fart hand loads and only then after over 100 rounds during a session when they failed. After the 1k round, I check the extractor and found it to have less than 1 lb of tension. Adjusted it to about 2 lbs and she now runs fine.

So for around $425-$450 you can have a decent 1911 to host a Colt Conversion , keep the Tisas upper and have a 2fer1 kit.
