I took my two Tisas 1911's to the range yesterday morning. One is a 1911A1, Semi-GI type, in 45 acp, the other is a Tanker Commander, in 9mm. I paid about $800 for the pair.

Both guns worked perfectly. The 9mm was especially soft shooting. The 9mm has a much better trigger, something that took me some getting used to, and I'm not there yet. It's light by my standards, at 4.5 pounds, but also has a VERY quick reset. Trigger reset is something I had never even heard of until recently, and I found myself "riding the reset" with this gun. That led to a couple of shots being fired before I expected them to be. Still downrange, just the sights just weren't where I wanted them to be.

I fired a total of 67 rounds from the Commander. 50 of 115 Blazer brass, the other 17 were a handful of Sierra 124 grain hollow points I had left over. All the ammo performed perfectly, except the very first round (One of the hollow points) didn't want to chamber using the slide release. A slingshot got it going, and I never had another problem. I used both magazines, and there was no difference. They were sort of difficult to load at first, but seemed to be getting better.

Here's the 7 yard, 9mm target. This gun was very soft shooting. What recoil there was, was sort of a soft push, not snappy at all.

The 45, basically the same thing, only this time it was only 50 rounds of Federal American Eagle, 230 grain hardball. Again from 7 yards.

The trigger on this on is not quite as nice as the Tanker (5.5 pounds), and sights are the standard GI type. The only thing I've done to both is a little white/orange nail polish on the front sight. There was a more recoil with this one, as I expected, but not at all unplesant.

Anyway, I sort of surprised myself today. I might run the targets out a little more next time. The sights on both guns seemed to shoot close to POA at 7 yards, although I do seem to pull most shots left. I'm not sure if that's a "me" problem, or if I might need to adjust the rear sight a little. For now, I'm happy with both.

Tisas makes good stuff. I have the GI Model 1911 .45 and have put over 500 rounds thru it with zero issues. Mine came with a Metalform magazine but I have 8-9 other 1911 mags from different companies and they all work fine in the Tisas. It is built way better than some Colt 1911's I have had in the past.

Good shooting! As a seasoned veteran of the cult of the 1911, I can tell you that it is not a slide release, it is a slide stop. The proper way to chamber a round from slide lock is to rack the slide, not press the slide lock lever. This holds true for most semi-auto pistols.

It's definitely a "me" problem. You're anticipating recoil. A good test is to let someone else shoot the gun and see if it's still shooting left.

I've owned a lot of Kimbers and had a couple Ruger 1911 but None were as easy to customize as the Tisas. I love these and they shoot very well.

You guys keep on posting about these Tisas, I'm gonna hafta get me one. Passed on the RIA 1911s when they were selling below $300. Don't want to repeat myself!

John

Actually, I've had the .45 version for a couple of years now. However, should a 9mm version cross my path at the right price, my .45 will have a playmate!

I'd like to add my opinion to the list. I got one of the Tisas M1911 and couldn't be happier. Great shooting gun and you can't beat the price. Instead of shooting my 1943 Remington Rand, the Tisas now goes to the range. The WWII Remington has now become a safe queen.
