I just paid a lot more than that for a new one a couple of months ago. With our 9% sales tax, I paid nearly $700 OTD. If I had seen a good used one for $435, I'd have been on that like a duck on a Junebug.

I've had one for over a year, I paid almost $700 for it. Same gun, love it lock and all.

Can someone explain the Lock for me???

There are many S&W owners that feel the lock distracts from the looks and won't buy one. Personally I don't have a problem with them. I have both. Now I have seen several non-lock models sell for a higher then new price on the auction block.

I'm not gonna talk about locks (I'm sick of that discussion). But, trust me: a 686, with or without a lock, is a great gun! And one for $400, with or without a lock, if it's in good condition, is a great buy.

Smithnut- what model revolver is that? A PC 625?

Yes, it's a M625 PC models made for Camfour. Here's a flyer on the 5.25 inch version, mine is a 4 inch model which was done a little later than the 5.25 inch units.

Thanks Smithnut- that's a cool looking revolver. I like the looks of the 4". It appears they did a matte blue/black cylinder release, trigger, hammer and ejector rod on it. Something I can't say I've seen before.

It will set me back $435
Thats what I paid for my S&W 686-4PP, in excellant condition, last month

Stop looking at it and get your wallet out. You will be happy you it, for a long, long time.

My intent was to say that no-lock guns demand a premium over lock equipped guns, not looking to restart the old argument(of which I too am sick of).

Sounds like you did OK like me. I got several over the last 8 or 9 months or so. My first Smith was a 686-3 6" barrel, about 98% with Hogues and original grips in fair condition, no box or papers for $425 FTF. Next was a 686-2 4" barrel, about 96-97% with original grips in good condition, s&w box but not the original one, no papers for $450 shipped plus FFL $30. Last was a 686-3 4" barrel, 99.5% with original grips, near mint, was a safe queen with box, tools, papers, etc for $450 but I drove about 300 miles round trip for that one. Needless to say, I got bit by the bug Big Time. And the last one I got was a 625-4 with box, papers and moon clips for $650. Gotta love those SS Smiths, I do. Cowford

COWFORD ....I reckon I had better run to the pawn shop and get it before you decide to drive to Phoenix and add to your fabulous collection of SS smiths.
