Once polished it does not have the original finish which detracts from value.

I wouldn't go high mirror polish, but nothing wrong with a little cleanup and shine with some Flitz and a t-shirt. I like to still be able to see the factory satin brush marks without the dull out of the box gray. But that's me. I went too far once on a 686 and was able to bring back the the original look with some gray Scotch-Brite with very little effort. that's the beauty of stainless.
I have polished a couple because the original finish had been damaged enough I wasn't going to cause much harm to the value. Otherwise I want mine in original finish.
