Over the weekend I stopped into the Tom Mix museum in Dewey, OK. They have Tom's 357 Magnum there. It, along with 10 other guns, were stolen a few years back and the 357 was recovered not all of the others have been recovered. The thieves tried to obliterate the Mix name out of the ivory grips which really did screw them up. It now has a set of poorly fitting 1970's or so set of non diamond magnas on it. I was not able to first hand verify the serial number but according to the display it is 55668 with no mention of being a registered magnum or what the reg number is.

The gun is a 6.5" barrel, blue, with patridge front sight. With the reflection on the glass case I couldn't tell if there was a bead of any type in the front sight, if so it is definitely the flush fitting type.

Overall condition is pretty good with about 90% blue.

Sorry for no pictures as I didn't have a camera along.

KSCowboy, Interesting. By sheer accident, I was on my way to the Tulsa Gun show and happened to have stopped at that museum the morning after the break in and theft. Broken glass all over from the front door and smashed show case, etc. Their theft prevention/security system appaently was not working ( if there was one) and Dewey, OK.'s law enforcement personel seemed to be Barney Fife clones and the museum "staff" seemed to know about zilch about Tom's guns or any knowledge of firearms. It was a casebook smash & grab, probably by locals looking for guns to fence for drug money. No long guns were taken, as I recall, just handguns. Ed.
