DON'T DRIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10mg is pretty heavy duty. It will help you relax but you WON'T be able to drive, or work after. Good luck.

At 10 mg you'll be relaxed all right. You got some good advice - don't try to drive. For what it's worth, I've had a couple of root canals, and they're just no big deal. People love to talk them up and pump folks full of sunshine about how awful they are, but the worst part of them for me was keeping my mouth open long enough to finish the job. Don't get yourself all worked up over this - you'll do fine.

TWO..???....

In your experience.....what do you guys think taking TWO of the 10 MG Valiums will do..???..........Im one of these type folks that get all hyped up at the dentist and just have my doubts they will even touch me at all......you think Im gonna be surprised.???.......

I think you will be surprised at how easy and relatively painless it will be. You are working yourself up to a fever pitch for nothing. Take the Valium like the Doc says, and have someone drive you to and from, just so you don't run into someone or something in your hyped-up state. Save the stress inducing worry for something really worth it, like prostate cancer or an Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm. Now these are things to get worked-up about, not a root canal. I have had all three, and I'll take the root canal anyday!

Relax, no problem with a root canal. I was actually relieved when the lidocane shot knocked down the toothache I was having, and I relaxed all the way through the procedure.

Don't Worry...Be Happy

The Valium will make you feel pretty good and the gas and novcain will do the rest of the job. I have had several root canal jobs over the years and they aren't that bad and I only got the novacain...Valium is just like having a few drinks of the good stuff without the hangover. Relax and enjoy it. Your dentist will probably give you something like Vicodin for pain after the procedure. If so, take it as soon as you get home with it so that when the novacain wears off you will be ok...Remember that thousands of these procedures are done everyday and it is nothing to fear. It definitely beats having teeth extracted and dealing with missing teeth.

I've had at least six root canals in the last ten years and for me the pain was a nonissue. Some of them took a long time to do ,and that just depends on that particular tooth.I've heard lots of stories through the years about how awful they are ,but for me they were no big deal.If you stay on top of this stuff and just go in and get checked every six months, like I finally learned, you can save a lot of money ;-)

What they said! I've had a couple of the procedures, and the
only bad times I had were BEFORE going to the dentist. Once it's
done, just go and relax for a while. Pain is a non-issue 'cause
the root is already dead, can't have pain w/o nerves to tell about it.
'Course, a progress report won't hurt. How about doing one
right after you get home? TACC1
