James Gandolfini died today in Rome Italy at the age of 51

Very sad news. Great actor. And left behind a wife and 8 month old daughter.

What a shame! He was great as Tony Soprano. Prayers to the family.

He was a versatile actor, produced some documentaries in support of the military, and by all accounts was a gentle, funny guy.

Very sad, especially dying so young with many years of fine work ahead of him.

Sad news indeed. I was never a Sopranos fan but I thought the role he played as the egomaniac Colonel in The Last Castle was great. A friend of ours who is quite a bit overweight was seated next to him on a flight once. Gandolfini was joking that the agent probably picked the two biggest guys on the flight and sat them together.

The Sopranos was by far my favorite television series....he will be sadly missed.
