Friday, July 8th was another great day for my log book.

I had a new member of our "Clan" join the wife and I to a little drive up into the National Forest, with a friend for some sunshine and fresh , clean, mountain air.

This was the older girls (Hailey) fourth trip to this area but the first time ever for our young ten year old, Sena.

Naturally we had to have chips and soda pop as well as water to help endure this event went well and everyone would be happy.

After a little time setting up the two rods, the lines were cast into the cool pond, with excitement building.
Sena struck first, as a little rainbow trout took her line out and jumped into the air, as the battle started.
Hailey was only a minute behind with her first trout, bending her rod, to her delight.

Being a "Greenhorn" at this game, I had to bait and cast out for Sena but she was an old pro at how to use her reel and bring in her fish after the second trout.

All nine trout went into a small plastic container that had lots of ice in it to keep the trout fresh, until I got them home, where I showed them how to clean them.

I had Hailey clean just one, since she was the person that wanted to bring them home, for a meal, since she likes the flavor of trout.
Talk about two young girls making lots of funny faces and weird sounds......... this was huge, but a lot of fun.

On this trip, Sena, only got within 16" of a trout but she did say that she had fun and would do it again.
Maybe on the next try I might get her to touch or even hold one? After all, her 20 month old sister, Raya, held a brook trout up for us all to see at the cabin, just a week ago.
There is still hope. :D

Here is a picture of Sena's first trout, with some help from a seasoned 14 year old.
