Finally took my concealed carry class. It was very interesting, and the time flew by. I passed, so now I need to go to the county police and get that process rolling.

Used a Sig P239 and a S&W 686 Plus for the qualifying portion. Connected a lot of smaller holes to make one big hole. One outlier in the 7 ring - caused by me flinching when the instructor came over and suggested I lean forward a bit more.

Anyway, all the time I'm sitting in class I'm learning about where I CAN'T go with a concealed weapon. There were so many instances where I felt like my right to defend myself or my family was being infringed upon. There were times when I thought, "Is it worth it? I mean, how many times am I going to be able to actually carry my handgun where I want to go?"

This country has done such a great job at demonizing guns by sensationalizing tragedies, by depicting them as weapons of evil, etc. in movies...

I haven't spent too much time trying to organize all the thoughts that went through my head during the class, but I feel as though one thought that came through strongly was this, "I feel as though my rights are being terribly restricted."

well they have to impress upon you the fact that there are some places, and situations where you can't pack heat. Most of the nation seems to allow for it in reality. just know you cant go staggering sloppy drunk into a courthouse with your little friend.
its good to hear that you thought about what was said in class. That is far more than Zimmerman did in Florida.

A good gun-belt and an EASILY REMOVABLE HOLSTER should be your next stop.

About half the real estate around here is NON-CARRY.

Ohio finally got the Bar/Restaurant carry passed (NO ALCOHOL) for the carry person.

That bills passage helped some.

Next?

Get a copy of Ayoob's 'In Gravest Extreme' and read it several times. This book could not only save your butt, but your financial life too. The book is old, in print for more than 30 years, but the concepts are as bright as a morning sunrise.:)
