Took my E series 1911 out for a spin

My son in law was in town this past week and wanted to shoot some of my guns, so we went to my range where I set up some adhoc IDPA stages for some fun. Decided to bring my E series 1911 and try some reloads my brother provided.

The E series ran like a champ with the reduced power reloads (185 gr lswc), impressing my son in law. The gun made me look good. I'll be using this later this week in the next IDPA match and will report back.

As usual, the e series never disappoints- accurate, reliable quick on target. It's stock with only exceptions of a magwell, FO front sight and LOK grips.

My son in law wanted to try out my CZ P10S and sig 365- he wants to get both and is working to get my daughters permission

I've had my E-Series for over 5 years now. Not one single issue. Looked long and hard for a 1911 under $1000. Chose the E. I get lots of compliments on it at the range with it.

I converted mine into my "home defense" gun with a Recover Tactical Grip and Rail System, Streamlight TLR-1 and Wilson Combat magwell, ambidextrous safety, extended slide lock and extended oversize magazine release. The E-Series is tough to beat for the money!

Wow… the Recover Tactical is useful but it's so ugly and it makes your beautiful 1911 look so ugly that I just can't get over it. Does S&W make a 1911 with a rail?

Yes but if you ever don't want the rail, you are stuck with it. This way, you can always change the gun back to "rail-less." Guns intended for serious use don't have to be pretty and the conversion is very reasonably priced - visit Recover Tactical's website.

Ran my E series in yesterday's IDPA match, was the only CDP shooter as most others were in Carry Optic division.

while I didn't score great, I did reasonably given how long I hadn't really shot it. The gun ran fine, the operator was the one who failed at times.

Will run it some more this season- something about a full steel gun shooting "big boy bullets" that I enjoy.

I love my Commander E Series, absolutely the most under valued gun in existence!
However, if you're using it in competition or for a SD gun keep an eye on that plunger spring housing, they're inherently coming un-staked. (mine did only after a few hundred rounds). fwiw
