Top Break Identification & caliber

A good friend of mine has been offered these 2 handguns.

I know about the S&W 380 but know nothing about the
top break. These are the only 2 photos he has and has not
been able to actually see them.

He says there is no caliber marking and no manufacturer
name. The grips are black plastic and marked "SF".

Top brakes are out of my wheel house, know very little about
them and he knows even less than I do.

Any ID help much appreciated.

The top break looks like....

the grips are marked F&W most likely Forehand & Wadsworth, they made a ton of inexpensive top breaks in 32 S&W and 38 S&W caliber.


Maybe post on the "other guns" forum for more info, with a pic the writing on the top strap.
 
Agree. Forehand & Wadsworth. Appears to be a .38 S&W (not Special) and in exceptional condition.
