Torture Test: Tisas 1911

Brian Pearce is probably the best gun writer ever to date. We are lucky to have him. Yes, I would imagine he gets paid for all the work he does for Handloader and Rifle magazines. He deserves to get paid just like any body who works for a living. If you automatically discredit all reviews you are only hurting your self but maybe you are so knowledgeable already that you don't need to ever learn any thing else . My full size 1911 isn't going to be used in competition and has only been carried a few times for SD many years ago when I only had a few guns. Once I got it broken in it has never failed to feed ball ammo again. Just the sight of the big .45 in my waist band stopped a situation from escalating without me even having to draw it many years ago. Just like the NRA says. Good enough for me :)

Pearce would certainly be among the very best of gunwriters. John Barsness would be an equal but he's now retired. The late Bob Hagel and the late Ken Waters would also be in that group.

Yes there were many good gun writers in the past, Bob Hagel was probably under rated. I have been buying and reading gun magazines since 1958 when I was13 years old and had a paper route. I spent my earnings at a local magazine and tobacco shop and read everything I could get my hands on. Brian Pearce has just taken gun writing to another level partly because of the advances in technology. Hundreds of loads of one caliber, all chronographed and pressure tested fired in real guns just like you and I own. Ken Waters was very good but tended to stick to pretty light loads. Early on Barsness was quite full of himself but seemed to mature a bit later on. I enjoyed Skeeter even if he was more of a home spun story teller at times than a highly knowledgeable gun writer. I even loved to read old Elmer's writing! I don't mean to disparage popular writers of the past but times have changed and we are lucky to have Brian Pearce.
Just my opinion after many years of reading, if you don't agree feel free to not read what I write :D

I've posted in a half dozen Tisas 1911 threads on here over the last several months and my opinion is unchanged. They're great!!

I'm approaching 500 rounds in mine and the only failures I've had were from a cheap magazine. It's now retired - in trash.

Otherwise it's ran without failure. It's very accurate in my opinion. Just overall a very, very, nice gun for the money.

Is it as pretty as a fancy Colt or Kimber? probably not in most folks opinions. But I wouldn't hesitate to put it up against like models in an accuracy and reliability test.

I'm 100% sold on their value.
