TPTB would never label us as "terrorists," right?

Actually, it's more likely than you think...

No Guns for Terrorists Act of 2015 (H.R. 4069) - GovTrack.us

Because, you know, we don't want "suspected terrorists" purchasing firearms in the United States.

There's no sister bill in the Senate, yet. But they're not ignoring the possibility of introducing similar legislation either.

So what's the solution to this "dangerous loophole"? Why, placing people on a secret list with no due process or means of appealing it, of course! What's the worst that can happen?

And before we denounce this as "much ado about nothing," the media appears to have begun beating the drum for closing this "loophole." In the wake of recent events at Colorado Springs and San Bernardino, I expect the usual suspects to play this angle even harder.

Obviously, this isn't a call for hand waving freak outery. Just a humble admonition to be vigilant, as always.

You are right about that. Joyce Foundation, our President was on the Board of Directors, is calling the NRA a terrorist group.
I wholeheartedly consider that an insult.

And one of the front-running presidential candidates compared the "absolutist" stance of the NRA to "communists and Iranians".
Pretty soon all of us who display the NRA logo are likely to be classified as terrorists.

If anyone's interested, you can get in touch with your congress critters here:

To late, the NRA has already been described as a terrorist organization, front page of the NY Daily today! So that must mean it is true if it comes from them.

I saw that at the news stand. Picture of NRA President calling him a Jihadist Terrorist. The thought process on these people is absolutely mind boggling.

The New York Daily News is a tabloid-style "newpaper" with an estimated circulation of less than 700,000. Other sources from 2014 show its six-month circulation as less than 400,000, including online readers. It's in deep financial trouble. The paper's owner, Mort Zuckerman, has already had to stop printing another of his publications, U. S. News & World Report. So it's desperate for readers and money. It's in competition with the more sensationalist New York Post, and it's losing.

My point is that it prints garbage, whatever will grab someone's temporary attention. I think the only people who'd take it seriously are maybe street people and people whose education stopped after the eighth grade.

Their editorials and articles aren't worth worrying about.

Watchdog, I check out the NY rags headlines at the local news stand everyday while walking the beat. I'll agree with you that they are running a close second to the National Enquirer. Non the less you know how pliable the minds of these left wing loonies are. They see something in print and all of a sudden it becomes fact. If I were Wayne L I'd certainly be consulting an attorney in regard to a possible slander suit.

What is "TPTB"?

The Powers That Be

The barbarians aren't at the gates, but I'm skeptical that if this bill somehow managed to pass both chambers of Congress, the terrorist watchlist wouldn't be used as a tool of political oppression to deny people their 2A rights without due process.

If anything, spending a couple minutes on PopVox sends a message to Congress that we're not asleep.

Also, the Daily Nuts is a fish wrap that makes the New Yawk Compost look like the NY Times. :D

Now isn't that really dropping the bar to a pathetically new low?
ASPIRING to having as much credibility as the NY Times!

Good for nothing but fodder for the bottoms of bird cages.

I think America is starting to wake up from a 7 year long
slumber and is seeing what the problem really is.

Those who are trying to destroy us from within.

We can only Hope and Pray that it translates at
the polls next time.

The so-called terrorist watch list is exactly the type of vehicle that anti-gunners want as a means of nullifying the Second Amendment, Congress, and the Supreme Court. Names placed on a list based upon an unarticulated suspicion by an unnamed bureaucrat, with no possibility of discovery by the named suspect and no due process means for being removed.

It would be remarkably easy to simply link the NICS system directly into the terrorist watch list, along with DOD and VA records of all military veterans. Even voter registration rolls could easily be sourced.

Recent efforts to require certain groups (notably Tea Party, NRA, etc) to disclose names of supporters and contributors provide another potential concern.

Still have hope.

My state is fairly gun-friendly. I've sent letters several times previously to my Congressman and U.S. Senator reminding them I am a registered and participating voter. Also that I am a law abiding, permit purchasing, firearm owner and there are a lot of us. Felons can't vote. They have supported us so far. I still resent somewhat to having to pay for a license to be able to do so, but if all it takes is a little money, so be it. At least I am able to have a chance protect myself and mine. I think our main problem is that good people with guns do not make for interesting news for most people. I do not patronize any business posting no firearms. Just remember, respect has to be earned. Be nice, but keep your big stick loaded.

Last I heard our Constitution didn't allow government to punish people because of what they are suspected of or might do.
But then, that's never stopped them before.

In case you haven't heard: A prominant speaker for anti gun legislation has introduced a new angle. "The 2nd Amendment was written by Patrick Henry, the largest slave holder in Virginia, and was intended to maintain slavery, not to protect the Americans against tyrannical forces."

I shake my head in disbelief of the nonsense, but wait for it, you'll hear it from the Senate floor soon, I'm willing to bet.
