Traffic stop turns into shootout caught on tape

Don't know what was involved, I just caught this on the web.

Things I noticed:
1) He stopped the truck angled slightly away so that the truck bed covered the driver's door just enough to obscure his gun hand coming out

2) He committed to his action without any hesitation and moved very quickly. The Officers had almost no time to react before the shooting started.

3) He seemed to be at least somewhat experienced with a handgun. He took a two handed shooting stance and deliberately shot rounds at each of the Officers (see him switch targets left and right. He wasn't just spraying, he was aiming).

4) If he'd have left his truck in park, he might have gotten away at least for awhile.

5) The responding Officers returned fire very nicely. See the rear window shot out and you can see their shots tracking him down into the driver's area.

Last, I hope the injured Officer heals well and is ok.

This moron had been driving on I90, shooting out the window of his truck between Rockford and Janesville. He hit at least two homes in Rockford. If he had not been killed, he probably would have spent a few months in a rubber room and then turned loose to wreak havoc again. Thank God he was the only fatality!

Scary as hell for the cops! Wonder how many bullets landed in the yards or homes in front of his truck? Good thing no kids were playing in line of fire. Yikes.

Bet those officers were at their local church on Sunday. Thankful the officers are OK. Normal looking guy in a normal looking truck. Wonder what the rest of the story is.

I just love a good outcome like this.

The cops were really caught off guard. He came out shooting. All things considered, they did an excellent job.

They did great ...just never know any second it could turn ugly.
my two bit comments..
Glad the guy got out instead of ambushing the Officer at the window.
Did they have prior knowledge of the "shooting suspect" (dead guy) or was this routine.
Also someone said normal looking guy and truck, not my state but those tags look different(dont know what but different).I'm also noticing his stance and his pants...look like tan class Bs to me(no I'm not saying they had enough time to see this)
I'm wondering about him,any others notice that.
Glad the Officers involved got to go home and they did an EXCELLENT job!

The silver car is an unmarked Chevy Impala squad car (you can see the blue and red lights in the rear window).

I read that this guy was suspected of doing "drive by" shootings.

Just goes to show that the police are well paid when performing their mundane duties. And it goes to show that the police are ridiculously underpaid when their lives are on the line in a split second and they're involved in a life or death shootout.

Nice job Tomah PD!
