Trail Boss and .38sp

I use normal pistol primers and freely state that I have run significantly above the posted max with TB. The key is to not compress the load and break the powder. It is good stuff with hot loads.

It was my understanding that Trail Boss should not be used with LHBWC bullets.

I am thinking Trail Boss was not supposed to work too well with Jacketed bullets. The issue with Trail Boss is not to compress it, it needs to breathe to be consistent. That might require a very light load with the deep seated wadcutter type projectile.

Groo here
If you will down load the IMR Data
for Trail Boss many of the larger cases use
hotter or mag primers.
I think this is because the power takes up
much space in the case and more fire maby needed to get enough going to burn well.
Also I would suggest a heavy crimp.
Most powers will be helped by holding the
bullet in the case longer to allow
the powder to get up a full head of steam.
