It's time to ride the narrow gauge Cumbres and Toltec Reailroad in NM and CO.
It runs from Antonito, CO to Chama, NM.
The midway lunch stop is high in the mountains at Osier, CO.
They have various options , you can ride from either town and back, entire route with bus return, etc.
It's time to see that black smoke in the blue sky!

I love the old steam locomotives. The Texas State Railroad runs one called the Piney Woods Excursion. It’s a trip through the East Texas countryside. On the route there are two Victorian depots that gives a feel of what it was like to ride the rails during the golden age of train travel. I’ve been on the trip twice and enjoyed it immensely.

I think it was a great mistake to get away from railroads as quickly as we did in this county. I miss that type of pleasant, dependable travel.

One of my best memories as a child was catching the Frisco at my very, small hometown, riding to Kansas City and then transferring to the Santa Fe El Capitain and riding to Los Angeles.

The Cumbres & Toltec trip is quite enjoyable; about six hours from the Chama station and back to the same point, though the other options are worth looking at.
