transporting guns through Md

How do you travel through the state of Maryland with a gun and ammo? I travel to Pa from Va. a lot. My family and friends there shoot a lot and I want to join in using my own stuff. Pa. honors Va. CCW, but I go through Md. to get there. Md. State PD has the ability to cross check your car lic. plate and knows if you own guns. Is there an acceptable way to transport guns through Md. and not get into trouble?

Journey should be continuous if transporting firearms that are otherwise prohibited by state law in Maryland.
