Hey guys,
A while back I found this triple lock box on eBay. The condition was poor to say the least, but what made me pull the trigger was the “TARGET” stamp on the end label. I figured how many of those boxes could be floating around??
After receiving the box, I was able to show it to David Carrol at Louisville Gun Day, and he recommended forum member Gary Lowe (glowe). I’m sure glad he did! Gary was able to take this lost cause and do a miracle! I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out, and I highly recommend him. Thanks again Gary!
So, here are some before and after pictures. Gary thinks the original Triple Lock Target that shipped in this box was probably a Christmas present since the Season Greetings label seems to have always been there. What a great gift for someone!
Ebay has been good to me for my TLT. Besides the box, I also sourced the non medallion dished service grips that are on my gun for less than $50!
Thanks for looking, and enjoy the great talent of one of our forum members!

Incredible what was done with this box.

I saw it when it was on eBay and I thought it was too far gone…

Very successful restoration! It definitely takes skill and some patience. I've been able to rescue a few boxes over the past few years (a couple of vintage Highway Patrolman boxes, a Colt Detective Special box, a gold K-22 box, etc.), but nothing as old and valuable as that Triple Lock Target box. What's really amazing to me is how nice the instruction sheet in the lid looks...almost new!

Gary is a miracle worker, and the thing about his miracles is they're done to order--------your order. Do you want to have this total rolling disaster to look like a brand new box, or a well cared for 100+ year old box? Call it! That's all you have to do!

And perhaps needless to say, if you have the brains God gave a peanut, you opt for the latter. I sent a warped all to hell NM#3 box to him some years ago, and it came back dead square---and stayed that way---absolute perfection!!

Ralph Tremaine

As an aside, that NM #3 box was accompanied by a BADLY stained .44 2nd Target box; stained with what, I have no idea. As it turned out, it didn't matter what it was stained with, because the stain was GONE---completely----no trace!!

This is an amazing resurrection. Not even a restoration, a resurrection.

I think this sold for something like $150 on eBay. I bid $25 for it as something neat to have, but not going overboard, never even considering such a resurrection was possible. Worth every penny given the end result.
