Had the chance to do a little tuning this morning. I was going to send it in to Smith but decided to do a little on my own.
After I got it all apart and had a close look at everything I really doubt there was any polishing or tuning of any type by the PC. There was plenty of oil but all parts were still in the black with just a few tiny...and I mean tiny wear spots showing on the bottom of the rebound slide and the Hammer/Trigger sear. I didn't go crazy but I did stone and polish what I thought needed to be done. I'm not sure what the double action pull was but it was heavy. I have no problem with that but I do want it to be smooth and consistent. The mainspring in there looks to be a Wolff Ribbed extra power???? I didn't change it but I did change the Trigger return spring. The single action pull was 5# and that to me is too heavy by at least 1 1/2#.
Got it all back together and it's now a very smooth DA and the SA is right a 3# so I will leave it at that.
I also don't care for the gold bead front sight. I fit a .250 SDM fiber optic in it's place but it was too long and looked really stupid hanging over the back and also created a snag point. I'll have to find a shorter one or have one made to fit. Didn't care for the Hogue grips so I replaced them with a VZ grip. Fit and finish is perfict. Now I need to put a few 100 rounds down range.

I just got a TRR8 last week, about 100 rounds down ranges last Monday. Already nicer action than my broken in 627 PC snubby and is on par with 627 pro series which also was fine right out of the box. Don't have a trigger pull gauge but they all feel like 4 pounds to me. Not sure either what the performance center actually does, maybe they just make smiths like what used to be done. I don't know am relatively new to SW. I was boycotting them back when they felt it was ok to cozy up to Bill Clinton, though Bill Rutgers was also wrong headed about that for awhile.

All N frames have a 4-4.5# single action trigger pull. +/- .5#s. My only exception was a JM 625 that came with a 3.5# SA pull.

Performance centers or not. Regular models or not. Same pull.

I drop all mine to 2.5#s. S.A.. They ignite cci's and Winchester just fine. Lower than that, and you may get light strikes...

My 327 R8 was 4.5#s.
A 629 was 5#s.
Usw.

Yeah, don't expect any special tuning on the PC models. I haven't seen any evidence of it on mine.

I polished the rebound slide & installed a Wolff 14# rebound slide spring, with 1-1/2 coils cut-off, & my SA runs 2-1/2# trigger pull.

A red .250" Hi-Viz fits fine too.

That sight looks much better then the SDM I tried on mine. The SDM would not fit the slot so I had to file off each side of the bottom section of the sight to fit and keep it centered only to find out it was too long.

That's been a reocurring issue for me too. Rarely get one that goes right in.

On the opposite extreme, the DX sight on my PC 460 Carry was apparently on the loose side. After firing a few max. loads I lowered the gun for the next round & realized it flew off. :p

The factory one is in there but I can remove it with my fingers. The SDM I had to tap on it with a small brass hammer and plastic punch to get it out.

I ordered the Dawson .225 and that's as close as I could find to the factory .227.

Do these revolvers accept moon clips? The silly S&W website does not specify, and if I made the leap to a 8 shot I would prefer the black finish

The factory puts 3 moonclips in the box. Marked with a small tk in a small plastic bag with a green sticker.....

Although I've heard some of our Canadian members have had them get only 2 clips!

Fits great and is just about the same height as the factory. Way shorter then the SDM and even the factory. Came with an extra Red and Green light pipe.
