Lucky Ned Pepper: What is your intention Rooster? You think one on four is a dogfall?

Rooster Cogburn: I mean to kill you in one minute, Ned. Or see you hanged in Fort Smith at Judge Parker's convenience. Which will you have?

Lucky Ned Pepper: I call that bold talk for a one-eyed fat man!

Rooster Cogburn: Fill your hand you...:D

Every bit the good movie it was when I was young and the movie wasn't. It just got added to the growing collection of Bluray's. I'm glad someone mentioned a summer western movie list or I might have missed this.

Yep it's a good one and I will never understand why they decided in Hollywood to try to change it by making a new version. What clips and trailers I have seen on TV advertising it is enough for me to know they totally ruined it. Same thing goes for 3:10 To Yums and a few other greats.

I bought the re-make the other day, and it is good. I like both of them, and can't say one is better.

I have seen the New movie and just saw the Old movie with the Duke.

I do like for sure the Old movie. Nobody can replace the Duke.

I enjoy the end of the original when Rooster jumps the picket fence on the horse. He may be old...but he was still game and had a lot of spirit left in him...just like John Wayne in true life at that time.

Frankly I liked both as Bridges really made the remake in my opinion.

I just saw the new version a couple nights ago. I was totally prepared to hate it.

I liked it a lot. It is a very different movie from the original.

Try it you might like it.

This makes me feel old. At first I thought how could he replace JW at his age. Did the math and found there isnt THAT much age differance than when john did the part. Trouble is I remember his father Lloyd on sea hunt in 1958 when he was a dozzen years younger than jeff is now!

Provided they had reruns (I was 3YO in '58) I've probably seen every episode at one time or another. I was a huge fan.

The remake is okay and I definitely think the actress in the new movie plays the part of Mattie Ross better than Kim Darby. I pass on Glenn Campbell and Matt Damon for the LaBoeuf part... neither movie gets that part right. They need a real Tex-ican for that part!

Overall the version with The Duke is far better in my opinion, hands down. The scenes with Strother Martin, Dennis Hopper and Robert Duvall are irreplaceable.
