Looking at the TRUGLO TFO and TFX for my 9m Shield. At 67, my eyes are not what they used to be. Some reviewers say the TFO has larger fiber rods. Others say the white/red contrast ring on the TFX is easier to see. Has anyone tried them both.

I don't have both, but at almost 72, my eyes also are a problem, especially now my right (dominant) eye, which has developed an additional cataract. Gonna have to have the surgery one of these days.

Anyway, I have the TFOs on my Shield 9 and like them very much. They do help quite a bit. Getting ready to buy some for my new Shield 45.

I have TFO's on four of my M&P's. Have for the last 8 or so years. They are great for my aging eyes. I have tried TFX's on a friends gun. I like them a equally well. I can't say I would be replacing my TFO's with them though. I doubt you'd be disappointed in either.

Cannot go wrong with either the TFO, TFX or the trijicon HDs
Just my opinion based on usage and (cough cough) 49 year old eyes

Harper- Had cataract surgery on my 70 year old eyes this summer... one first- then a few weeks later, the other. One of the LEAST invasive, unpleasant surgical experiences I've ever had- and I've had more than a few. Don't fear having your eyes worked on. Definitely worth it.
I was one of those guys who if you try to touch my eyes- I WILL do my best to kill you. Could never wear contacts, as I cannot stand anything touching my eyes.
Wasn't bad at all, don't fear it. Get it done before it gets worse. Have a 55 year old brother-in-law who ignored his eyes- legally blind now, and no hope of fixing.

Thanks WesJames. I don't fear it. Just waiting till the first of the year to have it addressed. Still dealing right now with follow-ups after prostate cancer therapy, hopefully done with that soon (hey, you guys over 50 especially .... get screened for the prostate cancer! caught mine early).

The right eye fogginess came on quick, within 2-3 months, just suddenly couldn't see well. Both eyes have had cataracts for a few years, just age-related, but not noticable except to the optometrist. But this right eye thing turns out to be an additional cataract on the back surface of the lens. I was told by the optometrist at the VA that when it starts to affect my lifestyle, that they would refer me for the surgery. Completely up to me. I'll avail myself of that very soon. I know it's easy. My 91 year old mom just had both eyes done.
