I am wanting to replace my stock sights with either the Truglo TFX (white front ring square rear notch) or the Trijicon HD in yellow.

Can anyone speak to these sights, especially if you have/had both, pro's/con's etc?

Thanks!

The TFX Pros are closer to the Trijicon HDs. Both are easy to see defensive sights. I have both and the Trijicons seem to be more robust.

I have the Truglo night sights on my home defense M&P 45 and they are very bright compared to Trijicon night sights, however that normally translates into a shorter life span. I have installed a bunch of the TFX sights for friends and customers and they have been very pleased with them. I have started installing Trijicon HD sights on all of my defensive handguns for 2 reasons. I am 60+ years old with the attendant degrading eyesight. The Trijicon HD (orange for me) sights have a larger front sight "dot" and a larger rear sight "notch" that allows wider light bars on either side of the front sight, which allows me to pickup my sight picture much faster. The larger sight window also allows for a marginally larger field of view for threat awareness. Secondly Trijicon offers a relatively unknown program to have your night sights "re-lamped" at a nominal charge. Trijicon's customer service has been extraordinary.

Thanks!! 52 here and while I am near sighted and can see my sights really good I can start to feel the eyesight losing the sharpness it once had at handgun sight distance.

The stock sights on my 4.25inch work but with all 3 dots being the same size and brightness I see the front sight as slightly dimmer and the rears brighter if that makes sense. Almost distracting. The front sight is farther away so that is probably the reason. I blacked my rear dots out and it made a difference but I have used I-Dot pro's on Glocks before and that front sight really stood out. I found with the i-dot I preferred the yellow over the orange for stand-out brightness.

On my 2.0 Shield it came with the S&W night sights. They seem brighter over the non-night sights and with the front sight closer to the rear the front does not seem as dim as my 4.25inch. Also with the vials in the middle of the dots that helps me pick them up better, not because of them glowing but the contrast of the white/black dot during the day.

Anyhow I will go with the Trijicon HD in yellow and if they work fine I will probably do the same for my Shield to keep it all consistent.

We use trijicon HD at work. Those sights are good to go! They’re very easy to pick up and are very accurate. I’ve done a ton of one hand manipulations using the rear sights against my holster, belt, mag pouches, etc to rack the slide and they are still just as solid in the sight channel as the day they were installed. My duty weapon is currently a Gen 4 Glock 21.

I have never been a 45 guy but a friend of mine has a Gen 4 Glock 21 and man is that gun super smooth to shoot. I actually buy 45 ammo when he comes to the range with me so I can shoot that thing. Going from the 9mm to a 45 I expected it to be harsher but it is actually softer shooting than my well worn Gen 4 G17.

All my pistols have Trijicon HD’s, except one. With the Glock 17, I decided to try Tru Glo Pro. Not for me, but everyone is different.

I have the Trijicon HD, "Lime" front on my G43. I really like the sights but the rear sight is sharp as hell.

I've had TFX Pro's and Trijicon HD's. My eyes are getting old, pretty much like the rest of me. For me, both work really well when it's very dark or very bright, but the orange HD's are easier for me to pick up in dim light. Not dark enough for the tritium to pick up or need a flashlight, but not bright enough to make the fiber on the TFX pop.

Like @SIGfever mentioned, the top edge of the rear sight on the HD's are sharp. I did a very light touch up with an old points file (remember when cars had points) to take the sharpness off the edge.

I’m cheap so off duty I use Truglo Tritium Pro Night Sights. They’re not as good as Trijicon HDs, but I like them better than Truglo TFO and TFX sights. For $65-ish they’re a steal.

I prefer the Ameriglow i-dot sights on my shield. I have the Ameriglow cap sights on my full size. I once had the TFX sights on my shield and didn't care for them. I never used the Trijicon.

I use Trijicon and wouldn't want anything else. My duty gun has the HD's with orange front sight, love it.

Trijicon with orange outline front. Best night sight I have ever used. The orange combined with u shape rear sight notch work very well for my 74 year old eyes.

.... I have installed a bunch of the TFX sights for friends and customers and they have been very pleased with them...

Not to hijack, sight pusher or punch?

The TFX look so appealing and have been looking at them.. not sure how I would adjust to a rear "U" of the Trijicon HDs, but I've seen so many positive reviews

Trijicon HD XR's ar excellent sights. I have the orange, but the yellow ones are supposed to glow longer in the dark if coming from a lighted area. The XR's are very quick acquisition, and will be on all my pistols eventually. I notice a huge difference when shooting my pistol with the Triji XR's next to my pistols without them. The sharpness of the rear sights haven't bothered me at all, and I carry IWB at the 3 oclock position.

i have 2 of the TFX on Ruger LC9's. the only downside is the front sight is a little long and this decreases the sight radius. nit pickin' probably, but something to be aware.

I really like the TFX PROs
I just picked up another M&P so time to shell out some TFX $$$

Boogs,
I have always used sight pusher to install night sights, not wanting to overly shock the tritium tubes. I realize that plenty of others use a drift with complete success. To each their own device. The only sights I will no longer install are the Tru-glo front sight for Sig Sauer classic pistols. The dovetailed "foot" of the
front sight is too small in my experience and I have seen several work loose.
