My son is an aspiring trumpeter, and quite an internet browser. He likes to seek out things that might impress the old man.

Last night he showed me this:

Just watching this guy made the hair stand-up on the back of my neck! I see he and his band have a CD for sale, which I will probably buy for the lad. Good for him to know about types of music other than "banging & clanging." (How I refer to modern rock.) Those of you over 50 will remember the tune from your youth, if you watched much TV.

So good I couldn't resist sharing.

I've heard triple-tounging before, but I think I heard 4, and maybe 5 a time or two. He hit notes I didn't think a trumpet could reach.

This one's pretty good, too. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...04v8&feature=related Anybody know what the guy in the pink coat is playing? When they were just showing quick glimpses, I thought "flugal horn", but when they showed him longer, I decided it was too big.

Awesome!!!

I played trumpet from when I was 5 years old all the way up till I was 21. Played first chair concert trumpet, and fooled around abit with a few bands that never got out of the basement. I still have three trumpets in the back room. I plan on selling two of them some day.

Great videos. Thanks.

WG840, I have still two myself, one in need of repair with a leak at the valve casing at the tuning slide, but I haven't tried to do anything with them for years, except play a few scales with the boy.

When he was getting started, I was in the music store with him and they had an extremely nice used King Silver Flair that looked like it had never been played. After we left, I called them up and was able to make the proverbial deal "too good to pass up." He knows nothing about it.

Anyway, next school year, when he heads off to HS, he will be retiring his old pawn shop trumpet and moving up to the King. For the price of less than a good K38, I was glad to get it. He'll be a happy camper.

Glad you enjoyed the video! That man puts out some serious sound.
