Trying to date S&W .38

I am trying to learn more about a .38 special, 4", blue finish, five screw square butt 6 shot revolver. The stamp made in US is not on the weapon. The serial #919xx is on the butt. Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have a 38 Military & Police Model of 1905-2nd Change, built between 1906-1909.

Pictures would be very helpful.

It's probably from 1907. I have some listed with fairly close SNs which shipped in late 1906 and early 1907.
