Found an interesting Brochure 5.5x8.5 in titled "Protected by Smith & Wesson" with no date.

It includes M&P in 9mm & 40, SW1911, SW990L, Sigma Series, 3rd Gen TSW Pistols, Other late 3rd Gen Pistols (5903, 5904, 4040PD, and the 6 CS pistols), the 3 digit "Metal Frame Pistols" 908, 910, 410, & 457, and Small and Medium Frame Revolvers.

My primary interest is the 3rd Gen pistols including the TSWs. I am trying to date the Brochure

It includes 3913TSW,3953TSW,5903TSW,5906TSW,5943TSW,5946TSW,
4003TSW,4006TSW,4013TSW,4053TSW,4043TSW,4046TSW, 4513TSW,4553TSW,4563TSW,4566TSW,4583TSW

Dunno. I have a bunch of hard copy S&W LE brochures stashed in one of my bins from those days (handed out in armorer classes), but I don't remember seeing that particular (short) brochure. Probably because we usually were given the LE-oriented brochures, although we did get a couple of PC brochures, too.

Due to the inclusion of the short-lived 4040, and yet still showing the CS40 as a production model, I'd be inclined to guess '04-'05, but I forget the exact dates of the availability of those models. I remember being told by someone at the factory that they'd quietly dropped the CS40 when the total orders received for a production year barely topped 100 units, but I can't remember the year of that conversation.

I think the paperwork I have buried in my safe for the 4040 shows a date of '05, and I bought it just before I learned the model was being discontinued. The reason I was given by someone at the factory was the cost of the Scandium aluminum frame, combined with reduced sales of a single stack .40 compared against the competition of the double stack .40's that could be bought for less (meaning plastic). It was simply too expensive of a limited sale appeal model to keep in production.

Okay, I didn't find that one among my swag brochure handouts, but then I didn't keep all of them, either.

I did, however, find the 2005 brochure. That was a large brochure (42 Pages) that listed info for the PC and the S&W Academy, Shooting Sports center and the Retail Store. That was the year they listed the 460XVR as New, as well as the New standard production SW1911 line (moved over from the PC), and introduced their Crimson Trace grips and some other odd & end models.

Interestingly enough, I noticed they also added a tear-out card in the back of the brochure listing all of the revolver and pistol Specification Codes. Must've forgotten about it being in the brochure. (If there's any interest in it, I'll scan it and post it sometime.)

Considering the linked brochure pages have the M&P pistol, which was released in Jan '06, but still lists the SW990L (after the SW99 was discontinued), I'd be inclined to guess the brochure pics in this thread are from '06? Dunno.

Also, the SW1911SC 5", with plain stainless finish slide and light frame finish, was discontinued about a year to a year and a half (?) later than I bought mine ('05).

A '06 catalog date would still allow for the 4040 & CS40 to be listed, too.

I couldn't have afforded any of the 3rd Gen back when they first came out. Their MSRP was pretty high & available funds were low.

Surprisingly the 4040PD was out-priced by all of the stainless steel models except the 3913TSW which was just $6 cheaper at $806.

The 4006TSW had a MSRP of $1001.

Your chart suggests the "adjustable rear sight" (LPA) was offered on the 5906TSW and the 4006TSW, although I'm sure S&W would install it of any pistol if the order was large enough.

BTW, every S&W with an LPA rear sight that I have ever seen, has been a 4" TSW model.

It was also used on at least one of the compact 9mm PC guns. We had one of the early blued ones in our training vault that had a LPA adjustable rear sight, and I enjoyed taking it out for some range time now and again.

Thanks and Please post copy of card you mentioned

Turns out this card (stapled in the spine) is perforated lengthwise so it can be split apart to use as 2 bookmarks. The revolver & pistol codes are opposite sides of each of the "bookmarks".

This is best image I can get, and clicking on the image ought to route you to the hosting service, where you can use the Zoom tab button to really magnify the image.
