TUL-AMMO

The indoor ranges near me won't allow Tul-Ammo to be used. Aside from the casings not being brass, any other reason why they might ban it on an indoor range ?

I may buy some for use outdoors....

Cheap, dirty, variable power, steel cases stress the extractor, and using it gets you banned from most ranges. Other than that....

I bought a couple of boxes a while back they call "Military Classic" I
think, came in the camo boxes. Shot some over the chrono and velocity
was around 850 fps compared to around 930 fps of domestic brands
out of the same gun. Accuracy wasn't very good in a brief test. I
bought a couple of boxes of Russian Silver Bear later to try, assuming
they would be the same ammo under a different label. No, they chrono
abought the same as domestic brands with low ESs. Accurcacy is about
the same as domestic 95 gr FMJ ammo in my guns. It has the zinc
plated case and feeding has been very reliable. The Silver Bear .380
ammo is usually cheaper than the other Russian brands and is better
in my opinion. Sgammo has good prices sold by the case, a bargain if
you don't reload. I ended up buying two 1,000 cases of the Silver Bear
.380 ammo. The best deal on the net in .380 that I know of.

I don't use that "Black" stuff....................
however I some how did get a bunch of their brass cases from my brother that is with the Calif. Highway Patrol on a jug of once fired 9mm cases that he gave me.

I found out they are really "Stiff" and need a lot of "Juice" to be able to resize them. Not my favorite case for reloading.........
They do however give HIGHER fps than the win or fed factory cases.

That's pretty amazing Erich. I assumed it was your Chrony because one
of the two I had gave me consistant readings of 1800 fps from some
.25 acp I tried to chronograph. I would pull a couple of bullets and
see what kind of powder charge was inside if I were you.

I just put the box away. I probably should put it away in a pan of Kroil.

I suspect they used a 9x19 loading behind the problematic box of .380s.

I shoot a lot of it. No 380 though. I've shot it out of just about every type of gun and in the last 2 decades I've had maybe 4 problems. But I'm not picky....I don't care if it's dirty or not match grade or steel. If it shoots and hits the target it's good for range use.

stuffs heck on guns... unless you have a fine former commie country arm to put it in. its pretty rough on poly type guns...
How so? Aside from the 380 clocking in at 1400fps (which was most likely a wrong loading) they are typically underpowered. Every one I've ever tested was 200 - 600 fps slower than it should be.

That caliber should be around 1000- 1200 fps. It's only coming in at barely over 800

45acp in a carbine and at just under 900fps?!?!?! That is anything but rough.

I've got 5.45x39 which should be just over 3000fps clocking in at 2400fps

BYW, I know in the photo one is Wolf and one is Tula. In reality it's the same ammo, made in the same plant. Both are made by Tula. Wolf, an American company, uses the name Wolf much like like Cabela uses the name Herters. It's just a name from which they sell ammo. Wolf Gold is made in Tiwan and Wolf 22lr is made in Germany
