TV Ears

We have two pairs of TV Ears. Not satisfied with quality or performance.

Any alternate recommendations from personal experience?

Don't know. My 105-YO Mother in law has used them for many years, and they seen to work fine for her. All she does is sit in front of the TV with them on when she's not asleep. I've never tried them myself. Someone may make better quality headsets, as the originals look pretty cheesy. I've had to buy her a few replacement headsets off eBay where they are usually cheap.

My hearing is so bad that I use headphones for *all* of my TV viewing. I use Sony MDRRF985RK Wireless RF Headphones. I like these so much that I have 2 sets, once each for the living room and bedroom.

I can wear these for an entire evening without any discomfort.

The price varies widely. Look for less than $90 from the big retailers. If you don't mind using fleabay, you can get them NIB for less than $50.

When I was a kid, my Dad had me touch the rabbit ears to improve the reception. Of course I could not move during his show and his favorite was Sunday afternoon golf.

I just got new hearing aids and with them a device that plugs into the TV, sends a signal (wireless) to a device around my neck, Bluetooth from there directly to my hearing aids with the frequencies I need amplified via programming from my audiologist. $150 add on to the $6200 hearing aids. Both were worth the money for me. I also have a device that connects to my IPhone that sends phone calls directly to my hearing aids, all Bluetooth, kept in my shirt pocket with the microphone there. People think I'm talking to them or myself. Amusing. Of course I'm easily amused:rolleyes:.

Stay safe, John

I use the low rent method. I have a cheapo set of earphones and a long extension cord that plugs into the earphone jack on my TV. The total cost was about $20.00, and I don't care if my cat chews the cord at that price. The fidelity is excellent and I don't blast my neighbors out of their apartment by turning the TV up to the level where I can hear it without hearing aids. Since I am bad to go to sleep in my chair, I can just lay them down on the floor beside said chair and drop on off. They are not the most convenient, but I can replace them at minimal cost if something quits working.
