My living room is fairly big and my chair is about 30' away from the TV so I would have to turn the TV up louder to hear things if someone is making noise in the kitchen. Then if a commercial came on it was REALLY loud and I would have to hurry and turn the volume down. My solution was to buy a Sony wireless external speaker($120) that's about half the size of a loaf of bread and put it next to me on an end table then I bought a Blue-Tooth($45) device and plugged it into the ear phone jack on the TV. This worked wonderfully and it was so much nicer watching TV and not having to turn the volume up loud but we replaced our TV and just got a new 65" Samsung TV that doesn't have an ear phone jack or built in Blue Tooth. The new TV has an optical sound jack(whatever that is) and I bought a new Blue Tooth device from Best Buy that plugs into the optical jack but could never get the thing to work. Wondering if they make an optical jack/earphone compatible adapter so I could use my old Blue Tooth that worked so well? Any suggestions? I don't want a sound bar or headphones.
