How is it known how many people watch a TV show...? I read 4.1 million people watched so & so...

I read Letterman's ratings jumped ahead of O'Brien for a few days, when he made that bad remark about Palin's daughter.

I personally don't like Letterman, but I think he's better than O'Brien. Just using this for an example.

How is it known which shows people watch...? I've never seen a poll by ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, or anyone.

I don't know how they can tell that 7.1 million people watched a ball game..

Smoke and mirrors.

More commonly known as sampling and statistical estimates.

Some people, like me, throw their questionaires in the trash and tell them to kiss off, which in fact calls their sampling into serious question. Recently the surveys made an arbitrary change in estimate parameters because the old ones showed a serious drop in TV viewing. Can't have that, would change commercial revenues.

TV? BAH!

Most shows I've found are pathetic. Only ones I watch are the news (such as it is), and comedies on the weekends such as WWE Smackdown and Fox Sunday animation.

Ratings are a joke...think the J.D. Power award everyone brags about getting but means nothing.
