A few years ago, at one of the Symposiums, I bought a 6 inch Regulation Police Target in 32 Long which was shipped in May of 1927. If memory serves from previous posts there are only 60 or so of these known.

Last weekend I added the 4 inch which is one of the 196 built in 1957. They don't look all that different for having been built 30 years apart.

Pretty sure there is only 30 years difference.

Very nice pair.

I have a few of the 6 inch models.

I have wanted one of the 4 inch models, but so far cannot justify the $ on my semi retirement budget.

While the 32 RP Target is far from common, I firmly believe more than 60 of them are out there. Heck, I've even got one of them! ;) I'm gonna take a WAG and say the actual number is at least 5-10 times that number, although how many remain "in circulation" now is questionable.

Here are my 3 i frame .32 targets.
The 6" RP once belonged to Roy Jinks.
The next two are 4-digit no change 1903's.
The middle one was a Proxibid find several years ago.
The bottom was a local auction find. It had a lopped off barrel. It now wears a pre-30 3" barrel with a pinned front sight blade my gunsmith made for it.

Yes, the 4" Target was (I think) the last new gun they made with the old prewar I frame leaf mainspring action. I can just imagine the new 1957 employees looking at these and making "grandpa gun" jokes as they were being assembled.

Kinda reminds me of how croutons were invented....some cook had a bunch of stale bread and thought, " instead of throwing it away, I'll cut it up, toast it a bit, and put it on salads....wonder if i can up the price a few cents as a result."
