Why don't you get a very small Jeweler's rat tail file and make your square notch into a "U" notch? A very small touch up with cold bluing and you're good to go. .........

Check out what brand is used on the 386 Nightguard. I think it's available at Brownell's and know it's available direct from the mfg'er. IIRC, it's Cylinder and Slide. I'm still regretting not buying a Nightguard they had with that setup at the LGS a few months back.

Years ago I took an old model 15,filed off the ramp sight, dovetailed one of the Xpress big dot sights into the flat left there, and then roundfiled the rear notch out. Sighted it in at 10 yards and gave it to my mother in law for a home defense weapon. She loves it, man that big dot shines at night.

ANSWER HERE.

Cylinder and Slide Extreme Duty U Notch Rear Sight. That is what is on the S&W Night Guard Series. I have them on several guns and they are fantastic. I'm surprised it took so many responses to get the answer. Usually the first respondent nails it.

Extreme Duty Fixed Sights and Sight Sets

I have several revolvers, all with adjustable rear sights. I really like gold bead front sights and have seen where others have changed or reccomended using a U notch rear sight instead of the square notch. I had a Wilson Combat 1911 set up with a gold bead front, U notch rear drift only. It worked real good and I figured someone makes a replacement blade like I want for my revolves? I figured it would be easier to replace the blade than to file my original square cut.

I have some S&W J, K & L Frames that I put gold beads and a few fibre optic sights on.

It seems to me that if I filed a round bottom in the notch, thereby lowering the cutout, I should lower the top flats of the sight as well? Any thoughts?
