U.S. Military guns......

Nice stash of guns Tom, you certainly know which ones to buy. Good thread also.

AJ, your friend has a bunch of guns in that room. Larry

Thanks Larry, it's been an education for sure, I have bought a few "lemons" over the years before investing in good reference books and seeking advice from those who know their stuff!!

He is not that far from you. He and I have been dabbling in this for about 30 years. Lots of trips to CMP North Store and lots of gun show/gun stores & gun auctions.

Well, he's got some incredible stuff!

I picked this one up locally just a few weeks ago, it's a legit 1943 Remington 1903-A3 with a nice bore. Would make a great shooter and it may be going up for sale....possibly on the forum, but most likely on an auction site.

My drill rifle as a midshipman was a 8-43 Remington made '03A3. I later bought one, with the two groove barrel. It was very accurate. Unfortunately, it was sold years later.

I replaced it with a Smith-Corona a few years back. :)

Those guns are all in the proper serial number range to be spruce Guns however, you really need to make sure that Bert Hartman at the Winchester collectors has those numbers and can give you positive verification. He’s the keeper of records currently on surviving Spruce Guns if you need his contact, let me know.

Accumulated correspondence I have on the Spruce Guns:

I've owned far too many over the years to list them, from pre civil war and up. I never took any pictures other than this group of U.S. 22 training rifles. I had multiples of some models, but I selected one of each type for the photo.
From top to bottom:
Winchester Winder
Springfield 1922 M2
Mossberg 44 U.S.
Mossberg 144 U.S.
Stevens 416
Remington 513

G.I. .45 caliber pistols

I've been collecting for many years, and U.S. military guns have been an interest of mine from the beginning. I thought you might be interested to see this "pinwheel" of U.S. .45 caliber handguns - autoloaders, revolvers and a singls-shot, from the 20th Century.

A completely mil-spec Springfield M1A was the only US military gun I ever owned and it was sold a few years ago. I did have some foreign military rifles, the beginning of a collection, but then I changed my mind and sold them, not counting the one that burned up in my 2018 fire.

I guess MSRs don't count.......... :D

My only GI. 1943 Ithaca 1911A1 (all original). Picture shows Korean War era GI stocks on it that I bought so as not to damage original Keyes Fiber (picture) stocks when I shoot it. Three WWII contract magazines. Also a WWII US Navy Mk2 KaBar.

AJ, your friend has a bunch of guns in that room. Larry

Larry is referencing Post #30. He has enough Garands to outfit a Platoon, and almost as many carbines. He also has quite a few Krag's, 1903's 1903A3's, a couple of 1903A4's and several 1917's. Last month he picked up a SC 1903a3 and a US marked Remington 40X. Just toys........
