Been a long time since I posted an MMA thread on the forum.

This Sat live on PPV is UFC 118, another totally stacked card. UFC 116 and 117 were great events and I expect this one to be another stellar event. Here is the card:

Main Card

Lightweight Championship: Frankie Edgar vs. B.J. Penn
Heavyweight: Randy Couture vs. James Toney
Middleweight: Demian Maia vs. Mario Miranda
Lightweight: Kenny Florian vs. Gray Maynard
Welterweight: Nate Diaz vs. Marcus Davis

Preliminary Card on Spike TV

Lightweight: Joe Lauzon vs. Gabe Ruediger
Lightweight: Andre Winner vs. Nik Lentz

Preliminary Card

Middleweight: Dan Miller vs. John Salter
Welterweight: Nick Osipczak vs. Greg Soto
Welterweight: Mike Pierce vs. Amilcar Alves

My picks:

B.J. Penn
Randy Couture
Demian Maia
Kenny Florian
Marcus Davis

I believe we will see a much different BJ. Randy is going to school Toney. The winner of Florian / Maynard gets the next lightweight title shot.

Picks, comments?

I want Randy to take Toney down and beat the snot out of him, but he needs to not get hit trying for the take down. I think B.J will take it this time he is very motivated.

The rest of the card is a toss up, my pics are the same as yours.

After watching that DB James Toney on the UFC special last night, I hope he gets his a__ handed to him. I coudnt understand a word he was saying (thanks for closed caption). Hopefully Randy Couture breaks JT's arm and mouth................. :)

James Toney wasn't that impressive in is last few boxing matches!

Couture should run right through him!

But Toney can punch so he dose have a punchers chance!

The fight card is pretty stacked!!
Should be good!!

Per MMAjunkie, James Toney quoted as saying the following about Randy: "I seen fear," and "I smelled it, too. ... Up close and personal, you could see it in his eyes. He ain't never seen nobody like me in his life."

I can't recall the last time I wanted to see someone absolutely taken apart. I want to see Toney chocked out or GNP'd out.

If Couture can avoid "getting caught" with KO punch, he should be able to put a sevre beat down on JT. I hope Couture can take him down and beat the snot out of him for about 14 minutes, then make him tap.

I think Randy may kick his legs a few times, get him sucking for air
and duck in for a swift and severe takedown.
At that point, Toney is meat on the table.
Unless Randy wants to tire him out first, I do not predict a round two.

On the other hand, if Randy decides to trade standing up, all bets are off.

Now just hours away.

Who will be watching the event at home and who will be going to a local sports bar to watch it?

I always watch mine at home or a friend's home. Sometimes there are 2 of us, sometimes 3-4.

Got the fridge loaded with beer.

BJ Penn was absolutely disappointing! Randy Couture did exactly what I hoped for... Ill be very suprised if you see James Toney back again.

BJ was definitely beaten, but somehow his loss is not as decisive as
the losses to GSP and others.
Looking at him in both fights, the speed, movement and pace of Edgar
seemed to completely take him out of his groove.
Some spark and edge just weren't there,as if on some level he wasn't
there all the way.
I don't think Edgar will be a long time force. He is amazing with speed skill and conditioning, but I question the knockout-tapout killer instinct.
I have been wrong many times though.
