UH-OHHH ANOTHER FLORIDA HURRICANE PROBABLY COMING THIS WEEK

No one on the west coast of Florida should be taking this one lightly. The rapid intensification is completely off the charts. After Helene, when the water came within a vertical foot or so of our threshold, we are expecting at least 2 to 3 feet of water in the house and preparing for it. Prioritizing relative value of items and protecting from water as much as possible, boarding up(our windows are only about half changed out to impact), anchoring and stiffening the roll up garage door, etc…Even after being through quite a few storms and two direct hits with Charley and Ian, we've never dealt with flooding. About as mentally prepared for it as we can be. Prepare for the worst and hope (and pray) for the best. Stay safe everyone and get prepared.

It is up to a CAT 5 now!!

Storm Surge is gonna be BAD. They are issuing evacuation orders. Only problem with that is where the heck are you gonna go??
Most of the West cost of Fl is gonna get nailed!!

When Ian hit we not onlu lost power but the shut off the water! (First hurricane I have been through that they did that)

So as a PSA fill up your tub and as many 5 gal buckets that you have so, you can flush toilets, wash dishes and take some kind of bath! If you have a pool then no problem:)

Just checked out the latest from the NHC. Winds of 175 mph and a central pressure of 911 millibars, down from 933 mb in three hours. That's intense.

It might not be enough, but at least your Governor is amassing and staging large quantities of living necessities, power crews, first responders, etc.

If I lived on the west coast 100 miles north or south of Tampa, I might board my house up and make a return visit to Ohio...making sure to not speed between Valdosta and Macon!

I have friends here in the Palm Coast area that are putting up storm shutters. Too early for me, but I did fill a few gas cans just in case. Still have time to board up.

As of 1515 PDT, you cannot access the NHC pages for Milton. You get a 503 Service Temporarily Unavailable error. Suggests that the East coast turned on their 6pm news then hit the Internet.
