.this link just came to me, some of y'all might've seen it already, or even in person. Great pictures.
I have to add, this reminds me of the importance of strength, and the willingness to use what is necessary to "end the fight", something that might well extend from a nations sovereignty all the way down to an individual's decision to stop a threat.
Thanks for reminding me, and thanks to those who serve.

Great shot in there of USS North Carolina (BB 55) at anchor at Ulithi. She's now permanently moored in Wilmington, North Carolina, and for the past several years has been painted in her wartime pattern as seen in the photo here.

I've been on board many times, and always am amazed at her size, 16" guns, and most of all, the fact that as massive as she is, she could have even floated in the first place! :)

15 battle stars. She was a warrior. I built a couple of plastic models of her as a kid.

Good thing we had 'the bomb' instead of Japan; can you imgine even just 20 kt in the middle of that lagoon!! I guess that's why there will never be an assemblage like that one.

I've been on the North Carolina, too, around 1964. Almost all of her was open, including the 16 inch turrets. Great experience.
