UMC 9mm 115gr JHP(L9mm1B)

Has anyone used these and if so, what was your opinion. Would appreciate your comments. Thanks.

It's fine as a standard pressure SD load, I would have no issues carrying it in a high cap pistol. The intent is to practice with the cheaper UMC FMJ load, then switch to the JHP for carry. Both should have the same felt recoil and point of impact, maximizing your training value.

My only experience with UMC 115gr 9mm JHP was in my model 39-2. I had FTE problems immediately and it got worse every round until it became a one shot pistol - one shot, one failure to extract. I switched to Winchester and no problems. Tried some PMC and it also functioned fine. I stepped out of the active range area and inspected the UMC ammo and found many rounds in the box had set back bullets. That's the last time I bought UMC.

On a related note I've used Remington Golden Saber loads and it's very good ammo, no issues. The ogive bullet shape helps with feed reliability but it's a little pricey for practice ammo.

UMC is economy ammo, nothing wrong with that but I've found a much better, and cheaper, econ range ammo. (Magtech)
But like anything else, YMMV

BTW. If you Google UMC FTE (its been a while but I think those were the key words I used) you'll get more results than any other type.

I have used the 9mm UMC 115gr FMC and JHP ammo in two different S&W's (6906 and CS9), two Sig's (P228 and P239), and a Colt 1911, plus my brothers 952, and never had a FTF or FTE in any of them. It is not loaded quite as hot as the winchester white box (USA) however. It is one of my favorite cheap 9mm loads.

I use the UMC 9mm Luger 115gr at the range. Walmart has 250 ct for $52.00. Not a bad deal when some sporting good stores sell 50ct for $16.00. 9mm UMC 115gr fits my needs perfectly.

I use UMC 9mm 115 gr. non-plus-p FMJ's, and the sister JHP's in my EAA Witness, and both my MKII and Digi-camo MKIII Browning Hi Powers. POA/POI is consistent. I did use WWB 9mm 115 gr. FMJ's ... and for some strange reason, all of my pistols did NOT like them, so I continue with UMC. Besides, it keeps the confusion down. You might try the more expensive Remington ammo, but the UMC ammo is made in CONUS, and that works for me!

The JHP worked fine for me in a CZ-75B, and was quite accurate.

as said Rem Golden Sabre is very good ammo. pricey though so not for plinking.
I handload it in .380acp, 9Para and .45acp. best groups of any slug I load for those. and feeds w/out any problem
