Just found out my eldest daughter and her husband attended a distant cousin's birthday party in NYC on March 15.
The oldest cousin attending the party is now diagnosed with the dang Covid19 and given no more than three days to live.
Now my daughter and SIL are home quarentined, but they live with two of my grandkids, one of whom is diabetic.
All for what, a stupid party. Arrrgh!

I am terribly sorry to hear this and I can't imagine how painful this must be for you and all your family.

What gets me is how flippant and insensitive a handful of folks on this forum are about it.

I worry as I am in the "extreme risk" category and probably wouldn't survive a bout with this.

We are taking every precaution we can.

My most heartfelt prayers for all affected by this.

Denial is a powerful thing. It makes us choose risky behavior over safety by convincing us that we won't get the virus. I got a call from then gun store that a Smith Model 57 8 3/8" just came in. They asked me if I wanted to look at it. I'm not dying over a firearm. God Bless you and may God be with those that are sick.

bigwheelzip, I am truly sorry to hear this news. I will also pray for your cousin and the family too. Maybe some of the more insensitive on this forum will change their tune after they see people they interact with affected by this disease.

Just today, I was talking with my propane guy after he came and filled my tank and he's very worried about this because his wife is on some kind of med for RA that suppresses her immune system, so he is trying to minimize his chances of bringing it home and she is staying home for the immediate future also.

A sincere thank you for all your kindness and Prayers.
I'm still finding out details. My daughter, as is typical of her, had driven this sick senior cousin back and forth to the party.
The party was the usual Brooklyn Italian birthday, with 60 family attending.
Contact tracing has begun and so far is not turning up anyone with symptoms.
The sick cousin is a veteran from the 101st Airborne, and being treated at the VA. A very experimental drug treatment has been offered and agreed to. The doctor has warned that even if the treatment is sucessful, it will still leave him a desperately sick man.

Rusty, I worry about you in this awful mess also, but I know you'll do all you can to avoid this. An awful part of us being super high risk is not being able to charge up there and offer help.
