For my S&W CS45 I mostly use a Fobus paddle holster - but on occation I might use an Uncle Mike's soft holster size 15 IWB for Cross Draw.

Uncle Mike's holsters usually take a bashing from some people cause of being so inexpensive or other reason.

I'd like to know - how many of you use an undle mike soft IWB holster most of the time?

Or how many use Uncle Mike's other holsters???

Thanks in advance.

I used Uncle Mikes duty holsers from 96-99, but the soft IWB holster would only get used by me if I had nothing else to use. They usually clip on with a plastic clip, plus they will close after you draw which will make one handed reholstering a tad bit difficult.

I have, and use UM IWB holsters for a lot of my handguns; most often with a KT P-32 when I really get light, and Airweight J-frames, which I usually carry. I feel the soft UMs are best-suited for the lighter weight handguns, especially when worn with shorts and a T-shirt, which here in Arizona, is the norm for me!

They are very inexpensive and when they start to wear out a bit, I carefully remove the stiches from the clip, toss the clip, and use the holster as a pocket version, especially with the KT P-32, my BUG. (I learned that from someone here; thanks, whoever you are!)

I use an Uncle Mike's IWB all the time for my Model 60. It does the job without adding weight or extra bulk, and you cannot beat the price.

I have used them on and off over the years, and find that the present-day iteration of the UM IWB holster is a real improvement over the olden ones. I use one now for a Ruger P90 that I have, and it works great for me.

Not being a gun gamer, I'm not in a hurry to reholster. And I note that a whole lot of people seem to shoot themselves while undertaking such unnecessary shenanigans.

I have three that I use,one is for a med (L frame) 2 1/2 which fits a 1 7/8 J frame just fine,a 5 in large auto for my 4506,and a large 4 inch revolver that I'm using for the 460 ES right now.

Somethings I'll note:

The J and 4506 slip in and out easy they don't seem to be affected by the holster "collapsing" like many complain about, both are the gunmate brand but is still an UM product.

The 460 had that plastic clip and is an UM job-it sucked so bad I lopped it off and stitched on a cordura section and used the metal clip off one of the gunmate's holster so I wouldn't go nuts.

The larger revolver does have a time with the holster closing in on itself, but this is more on account of the large cylinder then anything smaller ones or autos just slide right in.

So that's my two cents on them.

I've used UM's IWB for Glock's, Sig's, and J frames. Very comfortable. I did find that slide release levers will start wearing a hole in them. I stopped this with a piece of soft sided stickon velcro at that spot. I've never had trouble with the plastic clip. I now only carry a 642 in a pocket holster with an UM's. I've found it is the only one that will not come out on the draw and I have several. This may be due to the light weight of it as it just falls off. I try this from dress pants to cargo jeans and it just stays in the pocket. TC

That's why I ditched the cheap Bianchi IWB that I bought for my Glock 19 the day I picked up my Ohio CHL. The thing was so flimsy that it was nearly impossible to get the gun into the holster while you were wearing it, not to mention that I was afraid that the material would get into the trigger guard and cause an accidental discharge.

I switched to Don Hume 715Ms, and recently to my own handmade tuckable IWBs.

When it comes to IWB holsters, especially if you carry a Glock or an M&P, cheap is NOT the way to go.

i use um iwbs for most of my carry pieces and haven't had a problem the size 14 for the cs 45

Uncle Mikes IWB

I stopped using Uncle Mikes IWB holsters when a J frame revolver fell out of mine while I was leaning over to pick up something in my driveway.

I felt mighty lucky it didn't happen in the grocery store or somewhere else. Could be a little embarrassing to drop a handgun in public!

Now I generally use an Uncle Mikes pocket holster, but if I'm going to go IWB I want something with a retention strap. Galco makes an inexpensive suede holster with a retention strap for the J frame.

I have used UM clip-on IWB holsters for various handguns over the years with good results.
When I recently aquired a S&W Model 38 Airweight, it occured to me that the light UM holster would be a good match for those occaisions I dont use the UM pocket holster.
This holster fits great, but I noticed right away that the plastic belt clip is somewhat flimsier...Not that I think it will break, but it just dosn't grip the belt like the older ones I have.

I'm not a fan of the plastic clips. I like the UM pocket and belt holsters, but I'm not a fan of the IWB.
