Uncle Mikes Combat Grips

I'm considering getting a pair of the above and cutting them off to boot grip length. Has anyone done this that can comment on how to do it or the absurdity or genius of the action?

I've done it and it worked pretty good. I don't use the pair I cut down, just did it to see what it would be like. The 2 metal reinforcements will show along the bottom but other than that it was uneventful......
