This weekend there is a gun show in Union Grove Wi, about 20 minutes from the house, so i plan on going. probably a small show. I will see what i can. the grass is to wet to cut this early anyway.

Hmmm. . . I used to live in Union Grove, or 5 miles north, anyway. Been quite a while since I've been back.

The prison I work at is right there, and I live about 14 miles east in Racine. It is at Old Settlers park same as the county fair.
It was pretty well packed when I got there, stayed a little over an hour saw some friends and talked a little Army stuff with a retired CSM.
Had a good time.

Prison??? Is that what they did with the old Southern Colony mental place? I was only there for about four years. Left about 1974.
Figured it must have been at Settler's Park. I forgot that's what they called the fairgrounds. My dad was in the VFW -- I used to help at the food booth during the fair during high school and a couple of years afterwards.

We took over the buildings on the north end of Southern Colony, and the juvinile prison took the center buildings. A veterans home took over part of it.
Most of the metally handicapped people went to group homes, or to northern or central center. There are about 90 clients left at the southern facility.
The oldprison farm that was just west of us in now a veterans cemetary.
I remember the Twin Disc picnic used to be held at Old settlers too, my dad put in 30 years there. There used to be a Dog&suds across the street.
