Maybe a Whitney Model 1 Monitor (.22 rimfire, 7-shot, 3.5" barrel, iron frame)? Not sure, but if so it should be marked either Monitor or Defender.

I do have a Whitney model 1. This is not a Whitney. It is a cheap produced revolver made by probably Hopkins and Allen. Or other who do not wish to put their own name on it. There a lot of this around.

Are there any markings on the topstrap? It looks like one of the many "suicide specials" from the late 1800's. There were many makers and many different trade names used. A few collectors have matched some of the trade names to makers by certain design features ( I think I have a list somewhere).

They were most popular in 22 and 32 rimfire though other calibers were available in some versions. The 'suicide special' moniker was a derogatory name (like Saturday night special or assault weapon) that was often applied to these cheap, little guns. Many collectors still use the term today.

I appologize.

Well, after re-reading the catalog I have found another one that looks familiar.

Jacob Rupertus Spur Trigger Revolver, .22 rimfire, 7-shot, 2 3/4" barrel. But this one should also have markings, like EMPIRE PAT. NOV. 21. 71 on top of barrel and along side J. RUBERTUS. PHILA

I just spoke with my buddy and he says that there are no markings on it that he could find. It isn't in his possession at the moment, but I told the only other place where letters or numbers may be is under the grips.

Thanks for all the info! Yeah, this place is GREAT!

Ok, now that we know what it is, does it hold any value? My guess would be to a very small few...Thanks.

The circular side plate along with the other general characteristics & shape puts it very close to the Remington 'Iroquois'.

Not far from the Marlin 'OK' & 'Little Joker' revolvers either. But they were brass framed as best I can recall and the round side plate was grooved.

The example looks well made.
I'd guess retail value very little. Under $100 probably.
Family history value,,one you don't sell.

If it's engraved under the barrel with "Lost Lake Special" I'll give him $500 for it. Those are super rare.... :p
