Don't know if this one is more appropriate for the 2A section or not...

As a student, she was forbidden from carrying on campus. Now that she's a grad, she can carry on campus.

Hey, you can’t do that to us old farts! These kinds of pictures definitely qualify as p*********y. :D

She mentions in her tweets about students having been gunned down on that campus. That happened two years before I was born, so I only know what I have read. Has this forum discussed the Kent State incident? If yes and someone can post a link, I'd love to read y'all's thoughts on it.

Yes, but I’m not sure we want to go there again. It would turn a pretty light-hearted thread into something rather perilously political. Let’s just say that the case of the four Kent State victims of 1970 isn’t exactly a good argument for students being armed on campus. And that’s all I’m going to say about that.

Is there a link to past discussion? And yes, I actually did try the search engine... did not find.

It was in the Lounge, and I think Lounge threads get disappeared after some time, unlike in subject matter subforums. That may be why it’s not findable.

I definitely did not know that about the Lounge. Why would that be...?

Storage space maybe? But I don’t even know if I’m right. The utility of this forum’s search function, which used to be the best of any gun forum, seems to have gone to heck over the last year or so, and I can hardly find anything any more. But maybe I’m doing something wrong; wouldn’t be the first time ;)

About 7-8 years ago I was working a job at Ravenna Arsenal which is fairly close to Kent State. I decided to visit the campus to see where the shootings happened. Not very much there to see, and the area of the incident seemed quite a bit smaller than I had imagined it would be. The only evidence of it was a plaque (I don't remember what it said, but I think mainly commemorating those who died) mounted sort of overlooking the area. There may have also been a park bench there for those who wished to sit and reflect on what happened.

I was just starting grad school at Ohio State U. at the time (1970) and the Kent State shootings touched off several riots at OSU, resulting in the school shutting down early for the Spring quarter. I was in no way a participant (as most were not), but I did manage to get a few doses of tear gas that drifted my way. I remember all of the plywood panels placed over windows of the campus buildings around the Oval in the vicinity of E. 15th Ave. and North High Street where much of the rioting occurred. I remember a huge bonfire at that intersection one night, right under a traffic light. That light kept flashing red-yellow-green the whole time even in the flames of the bonfire. For some reason that flashing traffic light is one of my clearest memories of that time. Many of the storefronts along the east side of North High Street (all private businesses across the street from the campus) in that area had their windows smashed out and vandalized. Pure senselessness was in full flower.

BTW, regarding the gun-totin' Kent State gal. There is a common German phrase that sort of fits her: "Sieht von hinten besser aus."

I like her sentiments, but was it legal to have the gun on campus?

I saw a report on her on MSN. They're always looking for ways to condemn gun ownership!

I remember Kent State. Ohio National Guard troops ordered in to restore order while hundreds (perhaps thousands) of out of control radicals did their very best to destroy every vestige of law and order. Events spiraled out of control, National Guardsmen were put in a position that caused them to fear for their lives, rifle fire ensued, and a few protestors went down.

All I can say is God bless the innocent, including those young Ohio National Guardsmen rushed into an atrocious incident created and managed by professional agitators (none of whom appeared to be among the fallen).

Kent grad. Attended the year after the shooting. Would have been there the year of the shootings but needed the year to work to save money for college. Got to see the activists of the day; Hanoi Jane, Abbie Hoffman to name a few. There were protesters, but usually a handful with the great majority watching. The one night they chased us from the bar areas back to campus. Getting chased in the dark by full riot geared cops is some scary s**t! At the time there was a huge town vs gown rift. They would fire wooden “pellets” into the crowd. Those pellets were about the size of a small childs fist.

The following year one of the students who was shot was in my speech class. Very sobering.

Y ears later I was on campus with my daughters. Took them to the parking lot where the students were shot. At the time there wasn’t much to memorialize. What most visitors don’t know is there are bullet holes in the metal sculpture outside of Taylor Hall.

For you young uns it’s worth reading about. Sad time in our history. Kids shooting kids.

Sorry for blathering, but it was an interesting time and wanted to share. Seeing that photo triggered a lot of irony.

in todays blind hate driven media world, I tend to seek out the source as directly as I can before I pass judgment.
seems guests can carry, but students cannot. now that shes a grad, she's now a guest and can open carry.
Her intention is to draw attention to how you, as a student, are defenseless while the schools guests lives are held in higher value.
Further digging into remarks of others .... Since the election, I have developed an ever growing hatred for academia

Also just watched a news report. Venom summarized it quite accurately. Also, she notified campus police of what she was going to do. She said she received negative comments from people who professed to be gun supporters. She told them “if your offended your not a gun supporter.” Good for her. We got her and the libtards have Hogg.
