I have a 2013 M&P 40 with a 4.25” barrel. Are there any 2.0 parts that are recommended to swap out. Any upgrades you can recommend?

I’m mostly looking to upgrade with OEM parts for now.

Does the 2.0 have a heavier recoil spring? Should I upgrade that?

No. You can easily modify your 1.0 trigger if you feel the need. 1st things I would look for are a 357 SIG & a 9mm conversion barrel.

Cheers!

P.S. I took an M&P 40 2.0 5" slide, and with a factory parts kit & a 9mm 5"conversion barrel only needed to have the channel for the slide stop milled to have an excellent and accurate alternative addition to the family.

My 2013 fullsize M&P is a 9mm. I put a 2.0 trigger in it. I needed the complete sear housing and trigger bar. It dropped in. When they were around, I also got a 5" Ported CORE kit and added an RMR.

There were improvements to 1.0 slide lock and trigger bar that my 2013 did not originally have. These were aimed at improving the reset. I did change them at first but the gains were marginal (IMO). Going to the 2.0 improved more but is still kinda "meh" to me. (Still better than OG 1.0).

The 1.0 striker block needs improvement. The original is rather flat with a chamfer around the edge. This made my trigger feel "notchy/stagey" as the trigger bar pushed it upwards. Also gave me a feel like a false reset as it slipped off the block. My CORE slide has a more rounded block. That made a huge difference in smoothness. There are a bunch of threads on this in the forum.

So as far as upgrades limited to OEM parts, there's not much else you can do.

If you're a DIY'er, you can check out:

S&W M&P Trigger Job

Don't have to do it all, just pick th easier parts to start.

Some years back I bought two good condition early manufacture M&P 40 police trade-ins cheap.

Besides replacing some parts with new versions, I also upgraded the barrels of both to OEM .357 Sig barrels.

I found with BOTH pistols that with the .357 Sig barrels installed, they often left the spent brass in the chamber and didn't extract it.
I replaced the OEM extractors with Apex Tactical Failure Resistant Extractors, and the problem disappeared.

I UNDERSTAND that some departments had the same failure to extract problem with the .357 Sig rounds that I had before upgrading the extractors.

Here's the detailed info of mine.

Early M+P40 1.0 Pistols Upgraded
1. Ser# MPC10xx
2. Ser# MPH45xx

- Product #: 568944 Manufacturer #: 279740000 UPC #: 197706568944

===After upgrading the barrels to OEM S&W .357 Sig Barrels,
BOTH pistols had a problem with not extracting spent .357 Sig brass.
SO I replaced the extractors with the following Apex one.
THIS fixed the problem.

4. * Apex Tactical Failure Resistant Extractor S&W M&P Steel Melonite
- Product #: 739146 Manufacturer #: 100-068 UPC #: 856008005154

* NOTE:Got this Extractor to fix problem with the old OEM extractor
leaving the spent brass in the chamber and jamming it when I upgraded
to an OEM S&W .357 Sig Barrel.

Thanks for the all the great info!!! You guys are awesome!

Does my 2013 manufactured pistol have the old sear block with the small sear spring?

Also, anybody know where I can find a small grip insert? Mine was missing out of the box 😐. Unfortunately I have small hands.

The two M&P 40 police trade-ins I bought both had the small sear spring, which I upgraded.
I don't remember offhand when the production change to the larger sear spring occurred.

If yours has the small blocks that fill in the safety lever, you have the updated SHB. If you have the hole for the internal lock, you have the old one.

You can check out the recent thread on the internal lock.

Good info! Mine has the blocks for the safety lever. So does this also mean it has the the larger sear spring and plunger?

Is there a way to tell if I have the latest striker assembly and slide stop? My striker is silver with a white plastic piece. My slide stop has a yellow painted spring attached. My trigger bar has an H, so that is the latest, I think.
