Update to Puma Knife Deal

Recall a few weeks ago, I mentioned to Chad that I was then trying to do a deal for a Puma White Hunter knife, with stag handles, made in 1974. I didn't know then if I was going to get it, or not.

Well, I got it. But it's in the UK. So, no photos yet. As soon as I have photos, I'll post them. Price was $380.00 USD, plus 30.00 shipping. I have seen photos of it, but could not download them for some reason (the format was weird).

Always thought those were neat knives, and finally bought one 25 years or so ago, IIRC. Mine was made in '91. I've not used it as it was intended, but still don't regret having made the purchase. Enjoy yours.

Beautiful knives. Heard Puma used that Pumaster carbon steel on older models from the 60s and into the 70s on their blades. Often fetching big money on certain years and models. New Puma Skinner cost me around $30 back in 1967. Glad I held onto it.

I got one in about 1963 for Christmas. I believe it cost my mother $25. There's a story behind that knife. It was burned in a house fire and rebuilt by Puma. When I first got it, I didn't have the skill or the stones to sharpen it properly.

Anyway, last year I bought one made in 73. It was new, still had the sticker on the blade. It didn't have the scabbard, but the price was right.

It's now sharpened, which took me some time. And the scabbard was easily replaced. I got it for strictly nostalgic purposes rather than a hunting knife.

Bought mine for $200 four years ago from a collector.
Never used, in the box with paperwork.
A co-worker who served in Special Forces in Vietnam, said they were issued these and got to keep them when they finished their tours.

None, that I found anyway. Mine basically gathered dust (while looking great) until I eventually sold them. Puma made knives that were a little more practical for the average hunter and this one gets used often; Puma 12 6025 4 Star (Feststehender) Nicker Knife from the '80s. Another handy one is the 971 Puma-Plainsman folder.

The only fixed blade knives I actually use have 4-5 inches blades. ....... the longer blades just look cool!!!
