Pistolet Automatique Jieffeco Depose
Brevets 259178-265491 - Liege - Belgium
Quite a bit has transpired since my first offering to the Forum of this Lilliputian .25 acp, or, 6,35 mm.
I was very fortunate to make the acquaintance of a gentleman who was able to direct me to the provenance of this model.
Oddly enough he was located on the Luger forum, 'Jan C. Still Lugerforums'.
If you are a member there you may search for 'bdGreen' and possibly locate the dialogue I have been having with this gentleman.
This is where I found out that this little gun is rare, as they manufactured about 1000 of them one hundred years ago.
In his travels he has indicated that he has only seen five of this model with the stampings that it has.
Now comes the very interesting part of the 'Jieffeco Pistolet' that I own.
The left grip panel on my gun is a after market fabrication of some material that remains to be identified.
I was informed that I should get a proper replacement for the gun.
Wow, a one hundred year old gun. Where?
Actually, the gentleman offered to manufacture me a replacement.
And, he did.
Are you with me so far?
This gentleman lives in Moscow, Russia. Yep. That Moscow.
We messaged back and forth on dimensioning issues for fit. I sent him images of my caliper and measuring scales depicting spacing for the screw locations to determine if he could make me one. He actually manufactured the mould from an existing grip panel that he had and 'poured' me a new one. Perfect!
And, TEN days later, it arrived in my mail box. All the way from Russia. It was a truly surreal happening for me.
I am going to post a few images of the mailing envelope that was used.
It is quite interesting to see.
It cost me 493.65 RUB (Ruble) to have it mailed to me.
My first thought was OMG!
That actually equates to $7.00 USD!
My bank tacked on another $1.34 for their part in the transaction.
It went through Customs in New York and then headed for Texas.
It arrived in perfect condition.
You will see the gentleman's name on the envelope.
His name on the Luger forum is 'VAC'. He signs our communique's Vaclav.
Look him up. He has a co-author that actually lives in Texas.
Anyway, it has been a great ride owning this 'Jieffeco Pistolet'.
It will fall under the category of one to, "never part with".
It has opened up many windows of knowledge and opportunities for me.
Thank you Vaclav.
enjoy,
bdGreen
And, he placed this postcard in the envelope. Very thoughtful and very special.
