Hello all,

There were some inquiries about the stock on my M&P from my first post on the forums so I wanted to elaborate on what I have on my stock, how it installs and where to get it.

If you don't want to replace your stock but want that Naval Surface Warfare look, there is an add on that was made for the airsoft world, that will work on your factory stock.

The add on is made by Echo1 and there are a few distributors in the US that carry the part, ShortyUSA has this item in stock at $24.00 but I have found lower prices on the net. They call it a "cheek rest" but in addition it gives the the ability to store batteries in water resistant compartments on each side of the stock (batteries for Tac lights) or anything else you can think of that will fit in the compartments (pipe cleaner? That one Cig for the day, who knows!).

I know the "old timers" out there would roll their eyes and probably poke fun at using "toy gun" parts on a real firearm. Let me assure you for those of us ADULTS into airsoft, they are not toys and there are many, quality parts out there that will swap back and forth between AirSoft and Real Steel.

So with the explanation of what it is, out of the way, lets proceed to photos and steps to install.

Parts laid out. Factory Smith LE stock with sling mount removed (I use a tactical sling that has it's own stock harness), two different lengths of Allen headed machine screws, the cheek piece, the stock adapters and the butt pad.

If you choose to use a LE butt pad it will have to be modified to fit with the cheek rest and my photo can be used as a trimming guide.

Adapters installed, one machine screw goes through each side, it does not matter which outside hole or which direction.

Butt pad installed, cheek piece installed. It's a tight fit because of the butt pad, you need to finesse everything into place. Without a butt pad it would not be an issue. The cheek piece has four molded in tabs which catch on the bottom most set of slots in the side of the LE stock and is fastened at the back on both sides into the adapters with short Allen machine screws.

Completed with my tactical sling mount installed and the gasket-ed end caps installed into the cheek piece with retaining cord.

And here is how it looks on the rifle.

That's all there is to it! Any comments or questions, post them up!

Thanks,
Brett

Is the stock still fully adjustable? If not, is it the same length as the old one extended.
How about a parts list of everything you have on you weapon?

The stock functions exactly the same as "stock" still has 6 positions. Cost of the upgrade is $16 to $24 dollars on the net. Go to Airsoft Guns SHORTY USA and type in "ECHO 1 Crane Stock Upgrade Kit For LE Stock".

I will do up a parts list and give my thoughts on the parts. I probably won't get around to it till mid week.

Now all I need to do is get the barrel threaded and get a birdcage on there!

Thanks for sharing your upgrade. I couldn't find the kit on the site. I'll be looking forward to your parts list. This may be something I might do.

How in the hell can you even shoot that? Your sight is meant to be mounted to the flattop receiver, not a carry handle!!!!

he holds the gun at his side about waiste high and looks through the scope then fires at will:D... its the "from the hip" setup

You should try to move the rear mount strap. You have a chance of losing your stock when the gun is slung. Your strap is going to unlock your stock.

it won't unlock his stock but it could compress the lever allowing his stock to extend the the full length. to remove the stock, that lever has to be pushed in the opposite direction.

Actually, the real Advanced Combat Optical Gunsite, can be either Carry Handle or Flat Top Mounted.

I can see though it just fine as long as my cheek isn't on the stock, and If I was shooting like that, then the optic would be on the flat top (takes all of three seconds to toggle back and forth).

:D

Correct Airsoft GI has it listed. I also see someone else has something similar to mine on these forums, their cheek plate has a name on it (CCI or something like that)
